Find a nice squat, I suppose. Then get to work on securing a new legal identity.

If MAHA has their way, the path to success is bootlicking Glorious Leader with pulling up our own bootstraps to stomp on the underclass.

They're not conservatives. They want to conserve nothing. They seek only to destroy anything in the way of their own power, like all fascists.

I'm not familiar with the term "neoclassical liberal", but in the US:

"Social liberal" means liberal on social issues (people should be able to do what they want, government shouldn't police morality or sex, against segregation and discrimination) but not on other issues (eg. national defense, economics, criminal law).

Whereas "progressive social Democrat" is in favor of actively correcting social ills, eg. with affirmative action hiring, better public education, comprehensive sex ed; while also holding left-wing economic positions and otherwise falling in line with the DNC.

That's awesome. I love cheese, and while I happily went without it when I went vegan, I'd certainly welcome a vegan product that was more like the dairy original. Especially since it'd be safe for my lactose-intolerant ass.

I saw a refurbished electric cargo trike a decade ago in great condition for $350. I've kicked myself ever since for not buying it on the spot, it is exactly what my wife needs and wants.

It's a fact that any translation is imperfect, and that goes more than double when you're translating across time and culture as well. There's a lot of Biblical scholars doing a lot of great analysis of these texts, though, and if you find something that seems dissonant from the core message of the Gospels it's easier than ever to look up those scholarly analyses and compare them to each other in search of greater understanding.

To paraphrase Aquinas, don't trust man who only reads one book.

If you're okay with a text format instead of video, you might like the blog Diary of an Autodidact. He's a former Evangelical and lawyer who has some really insightful writing deconstructing Evangelical dogma. He also does book and theatre reviews, but the Christian philosophy and deconstruction tends to seep into the book reviews, too.

He's not perfect; he tends especially to have a blind spot towards Christian practice outside of Evangelical circles. But if you want insightful, progressive writing about Christianity in America, he's great at it.

My thoughts on this are addressed by something from the Narnia book "The Last Battle", where the Calormanian prince meets Aslan and becomes disillusioned with Tash (or whatever the deity was called). Aslan tells the prince that He recognizes him and knows him and that, basically, those who serve Him without knowing Him are welcome in the Kingdom.

This was the idea that eventually let me to Christian Universalism, the belief that all will be saved, all given the chance to receive salvation whether they received the Gospel in this life or not.

I don't believe in any hell.

So, when she wants me to pick up something from a neighbor, instead of: starting with the name of the neighbor, how she knows the neighbor, previous things we've picked up from the neighbor, previous things the neighbor has picked up from us, other reasons I might remember the neighbor; and then moving onto what she wants the item I'll be picking up for; and then asking me if I'll pick it up; and only at the very end telling me where I'll be picking it up from;

instead of all that, starting with: "Will you do a pick-up from ?" and then give all that context afterwards so I can properly sift the information with an endgoal in mind.

It's not that I want to skip the rest; I love her voice and hearing her talk, I just get anxious trying to remember everything. If I know in advance what's important I can focus on that and let the irrelevant slip away.

Junk removal is expensive and if you're outside of a municipality all trash pickup is done by private arrangement.

Ah, this is my wife. She almost certainly has ADHD herself and hates being interrupted. I've been coaching her to begin with a thesis sentence before giving all the context, and it's soooo helpful when she remembers.

I had previously posted this on reddit and it's still my favorite.

Found on NB Milwaukee between Grand and Chicago. HMU if it's yours and I'll get it back to you.

Inb4 yes I already posted to the subreddit as well. I went back to reddit for this and I feel dirty.

Neither seems to be inspired by the other, but share a lot of imagery and mechanics. Do they both owe a common precursor? Or is it the collective unconscious at work?
