That puts it pretty simply, but yes. And at least in 2008 it was mostly loans instead of hand outs so it got paid back.
When the asset doesn't pay off you get to write that off on your taxes.
Roku does have ads but they are pretty minimal and not invasive. I've had roku since almost the start and have had a roku tv for several years and love it
Not exactly a new thing. My kid rides the bus except for special occasions, but those drop off/pick up lines are crazy. I don't get how people handle that every day.

In Tennessee abortion is illegal, so they would have no choice but to continue the pregnancy. So, not really an equal comparison, since presumably you have a choice not to feed your child cocaine.
