You say that as if any of those games or series are truly original:
Fortnite
Fortnite just copied other survival games like Rust and Ark. Epic put their own spin on it by combining it with a battle royale - sorry, with a PUBG game mode.
Zelda
If you’re talking BoTW and ToTK, you can argue they just copied other open-world games like The Elder Scrolls and Far Cry and added a Zelda flair. Weapon degradation was even present in the older TES games.
Pokemon
Pokemon is just a kid-friendly version of the Shin Megami Tensei games without the fusion mechanic. Some of the Gen 1 Pokemon designs were also more or less lifted straight from Dragon Quest.
Minecraft
It was more or less virtual Legos when it first came out, and the survival mechanics gave it a unique spin.
So if you really wanted to, you can reduce all of the games you mentioned into their influences and what they straight-up copied. Funny thing is, these are all very well-received games because their core gameplay mechanics and designs were very good, and they added their own spin on things. Copying others isn’t a bad thing so long as you’re either iterating on it to improve it or to do something different to it somehow.
Yup.
If it was actual Hawaiian Pizza, it’d have Spam and/or kalua pork with pineapple on top. Maybe some furikake for a saltier taste.
It’s because the USA’s corporate owners like to obfuscate shit like that. The economy is doing well if all you’re looking at is GDP, stock market, and how profitable companies are.
However, a quick look at the Consumer Price Index shows how fucked the economy is for the citizens - but you never hear about the US’s really bad CPI score and how inefficient most markets are in the US.
You’re right - I don’t.
That’s why I asked instead :)
YTMNDs are still the pinnacle of web design, change my mind
I just hate how commercialized the holidays have become.
Isn’t weird that we only have one day to celebrate Thanksgiving, but we have fucking Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday right after Thanksgiving?
I freeze my shit so TSA is too distracted about me bringing my frozen water cooler bottle full of water.
Nah, it’s a thing. Youngest of the Millennial generation and I can concur with your comment after being in IT for a few years - pretty much it’s either Baby Boomers or Gen Z people who have a tough time with technology, with a 50/50 shot of a Gen X person being either super tech savvy or a technological troglodyte. AI has also made things worse since it can now do some light coding, but I’ve seen some people use it to code out entire projects only for it to not work properly at all or break UI on websites.
I’d argue that Gen Z is the worst for the same reasoning in your post: everything works OOTB, and if something goes awry then they don’t know anything or can’t do things the old-fashioned way - which at least Baby Boomers have the option to if they want to be stubborn enough.
How else am I supposed to feel good by telling Sync users that they suck for not using Officially Approved FOSS Applications For The Fediverse?
I never tip if I’m picking up takeout food, but I will always tip if I’m eating in or if I’m getting it delivered to me.
I wish tipping was not a thing in the States, I’d rather pay more upfront and not have to tip :V
