They almost got me with preorder last night, but I was like nah I'll just wait and see in the morning. I love how i've been reading for weeks that "it's good they made fast travel hard", like preparing us for a fast travel MTX. Or it's the greatest character creator of all time, but to edit after you have to spend more money - the game is basically $100 canadian. Absurd.

Now let's play polar bear, "oh i'm so sad i have to swim farther because of global warming". Checkmate bears!

Definitely interested. Hello Games may have stumbled on the NMS launch, but they've more than proven themselves since then!

[-] Quentinp@lemmy.ca 15 points 11 months ago

And then they cheer on your cool tech features, engien choices, and techniques, that really the average consumer doesn't actually care about.

Crazy that what was considered to be a global superpower is resorting to these kind of jerry rigged attacks.

Just cancelled my XBox Ultimate Game Pass...bunch of nonsense.

Edit: WELP I FORGOT TO CHECK THE AUDIO. SMH. I'll have to fix up the video! Added filename matching to the list of designs in your portfolio, added copy protecting (from the pantograph) to chiseled blocks, and fixed a bug!

I bet the new one also feels a bit more empty inside.

Actually back to modding again - this time adding a system to Chisel Tools where you can save chiseled block data to your computer to share between worlds & servers.

I'm currently on NG+8 (at 120 hours played) I think and it's funny how i'm becoming like the other starborn just rushing all the artifacts and not caring about anything. I could probably do it in two hours per but I do get distracted.

Currently level 75-ish (can't remember exactly) and I do get sucked into at least upgrading weapons, and in the Starborn Guardian the final space battle can be rough so I also end up getting the Razorleaf and working on getting it to C class stuff. But realy the upgraded weapons aren't necessary, can usually find a good-enough weapon getting the artifacts.

But the artifact chase means there's no point in building anything as it'll just be gone. Sometimes I think I'll chill on this run, but then i've gotten all the artifacts and it's close enough to finishing one more time that I eventually just go for it.

I've become just like the other starborn - building relationships is pointless, interacting with merchants is annoying. Phased Time VII is godlike - these stupid mortals need to get out of my way.

If'd put points into piloting earlier I might have been to level 2 in ship combat, but i've just started looking into class B and higher ship parts so I need the licenses.

I get totally wrecked most of the time in ship combat (using the Razorleaf with what upgrades I could manage with class A). I guess I could use my

spoilerStarborn Guardian II - I beat the final ship encounter by hugging an asteroid and taking out the three ships as I can, if they don't glitch themselves to death first.
my guns can take an average ship down in one pass, but shields are usually gone by then, especially if there's multiple enemies. Heh and if I do get a decent random encounter of course half the ships
spoilerDo the "Oh crap it's the Mantis" thing and run away. though i can tag one.

Are there systems that are good for grinding out some ship kills? On the ground I've taken to putting difficulty to hard.

**Oh another question - is the lockon mechanic worth it? Doesn't seemt to make much difference when i try

Some silly UI oversights i've found:

  • absolutely no way to tell what magazines you have and the effects
  • with the powers - I can't tell which one I have equipped or if I have enough mana or whatever it's called to use it

Anyone else really love the ending? I'd thought it would sort of go down something like that, but I just found it was well executed. I think the best part was how it ushers you into the NG+ with your cool ship and how you can short circuit the main story - looking forward to seeing if there's any other NG+ differences!

It's funny if I replay other games I just get on with it, but starting in that ship and having it acknowledged and being able to do things differently (story wise) just slotted me right into the lore of Unity - like everyone chill everything's going to be all right in the end.

I've been enjoying Starfield - but the empty planets suck, especially without vehicles. The scanning thing is boring and dumb, worse than trying to get 100% on a NMS world. It's a shame that fast travel disconnects you from the space feel of the game, but it makes the rest of the game playable. I like the game overall, but they have definitely dropped the ball on space travel. In theory it'd be cool to come across different "dungeons" etc, as in Skyrim when wandering around, but doesn't happen in Starfield because you're generally not going to happen upon them. It's not interesting to drop down to random planets.

I don't think there are any airlines that aren't on my no-fly list at this point. (Actually decided to do a rather long drive for this years vacation between the cost of air travel, and the nonsense)

[-] Quentinp@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 year ago

IDK why but colored toilet paper seems wrong somehow.

No real way to tell, but I don't think it would be immediately noticeable on Reddit. Like the satisfying "we killed reddit" probably isn't going to happen. On the other hand, being here clearly have discoverd the Fediverse as replacement, so IMO it doesn't matter what happens to Reddit now. (Not to say the drama/any issues Reddit ends up with won't be endlessly entertaining)

Just noticed steam creeping up on 900, probably another 20-30 on xbox and the same on iPad.

(still haven't A20'd the heart)

I feel like i'm wading thru quicksand trying to slog thru with him. Like with Watcher I feel like I can kick the spire over (sometimes). But man with Ironclad, I just can't seem to improve or get anywhere. (Unless I get like corruption/dead branch etc)

Especially if you add the Joy of Sailing mod (though wind needs some fixing), having oceans has really changed the character of the game IMO. Just something about hitting the ocean to try and find new lands (that hopefully have that one mineral you need...) And hoping you have enough food!

Hopefully vanilla boats get some love, the raft is not great.
