It starts out that way, but regulation always fails and things get worse. The scientific method is young, most inventions were stolen and excessively exploited wayyyyy past what's ethical, and the standard expectation for level of exploitation is exponentially approaching dystopia. But at least capitalism will save us! (Good luck!)

I would be even more disillusioned and disappointed than I currently am, I will admit it.

It's directly attacking twitter and eee fediverse.

Let's be clear: it's a very good browser, very HTML5 compliant, and perhaps one of the best browsers...

...Assuming you don't care about insane amounts of spyware - AND not having a lot of really cool browser add-ons (those having spyware and memory leaks is a separate topic, but I want to acknowledge these problems).

Edge makes more calls home per second than any other piece of software on my computer. I looked at my live log and it was a literal stream. Nearly every single action you do is tracked and sent.... (waves hands confusingly up in the air in circles) ...somewhere. Likely Microsoft, but I really don't know.

Almost all of Windows is like this too. I hate it so much. There's just no great way to have nice things right now.

I've been seeing bot-mirror accounts of real accounts on mastodon. Just do the reverse. Be on Twitter, but prioritize this "hot new thing"

They definitely need to get off Twitter and onto mastodon. I'm surprised i don't see more hyperfamous people on there yet. Honestly, besides herd mentality, I'm not sure what's keeping them there instead of mastodon.

Wait, hold up. Is he actually Mormon?

Edit: I looked around briefly and there doesn't seem to be any clear evidence for him being Mormon or part of the lds church.

But also, Mormons love porn. There have been multiple studies from porn websites and Google that show that Utah has not only one of the highest per-capita consumption of porn, but also have a major (iirc, majority) interest in trans women. Which is... fascinating.

Edit2: jk, looks like my info is old. The trans and Mormon thing was from like 2009 and may be a shitty study by one guy on subscription porn. It seems like NOW, utahians don't use pornhub at all, but this year there was a huge increase in VPNs. Nobody said it makes sense.

We'll see in a few days what the people end up choosing. I'm not going back unless demands are met, but I do have a tiny glimmer of hope that the people will let it go as apps disappear, and a slightly larger glimmer of hope that it'll just kinda shrivel over the following months and years.

But, in all likelihood, people are dumb, and spineless and ignorant, and will continue to make spez money and the durability of the site will endure. It'll be worse, but not worse enough for the vast majority of normal people to not use it. I have hope, but it's simply hope in the face of my ever growing misanthropy.
