Agree with you. Instead of simply exporting raw materials, we should export value added goods and services.

I bought an aluminum downspout recently from Home Hardware. Unfortunately the worker there couldn't tell me where it was made. There was no manufacturer/brand label on it whatsoever. Just plain label showing material (aluminum) and measurements. I checked Canadian Tire, same type of product (they just didn't have the size I need) and labelling.

Until I feel that usa can be trusted to be an ally and not an invader, I'm going to continue boycotting usa, tariff or no tariff. Unfortunately, once the trust is broken, it's hard to repair.

I do it because usa threatens to annex Canada. I do it for Canada's sovereignty.

tesla has been in a bubble for years. Granted, if an investor bought shares 10+ years ago, probably still make a tidy profit if they sell today. However those who bought in the past few months will probably pray for greater fools to rush in atm.

I make both cappuccino and French press daily. I would recommend either way.

Exactly. Why do we send oil to USA to be refined then for them to sell it back to us? We need to build our own refineries and other manufacturers so we can start producing value-added goods instead of simply exporting raw materials.

Thinking of what else someone like me (an older person) could do in order to prepare myself to support Ontario in emergencies. I came across Ontario Corps. Posting it here just in case it is something that interests you.

Perhaps you can try to apply for engineering jobs in Canada (in pharmaceutical companies?) and get your company to sponsor you? In term of dietitian, Canada has something called Registered Dietitian, your wife may want to research that.

This. I do have to go to usa for work meetings in the past but haven't felt a desire to vacation there for 10+ years. I would rather go to Europe or Asia for vacations.

Love Steve Boots. To me, he is "spicy" and non-apologetic.

Exactly. This is the reason why titles becoming more and more "clickbaity". Eyeballs and clicks are what they need to justify their ads/marketing budget. After that manufactured rage "engagement" equals to "internet fortune and fame".

I also read Reuters.

I was researching Ontario's manufacturers and came across this list: https://www.dnb.com/business-directory/company-information.manufacturing.ca.ontario.html I'm going to do more research on individual companies listed, but I thought some of you may be interested as well.

First time posting here so I apologize in advance if I did something wrong.
