Job searching as a SWE who's trying to get out of SAAS and into something sustainability or space really makes you realize how many of these companies there are.

They all operate under the guise of sustainability and eco friendly we're making the world a better place,, but their revenue is mostly from the Pentagon and or Israel and they also conveniently provide satellite images of every spot on the earth "on the side"

A lot of this comment hinges on your belief that US women are not intelligent enough to to understand that exploitation and manipulation. Knowledge has progressed a lot in the last 20 years. Look at the under 18 and 20-24 age groups here

There are much better examples of the subjugation of women in the US right now than to pin the societal oppression on US' fostering of an anti intellectual society.

The freedom of both women and the general public is not solely dictated by healthcare and the ability to attain higher education.

Does a free society cut off country wide access to the external internet?

Iran is actively lying to its citizens saying they destroyed the US base in Qatar and there was minimal damage to Iranian nuclear facilities. Both outright lies. This is not a free golden society.

How many women are persecuted from laws around the head dressing and other clothing related issues.

Boiling womens rights down to they can become an engineer and have good healthcare is laughably pathetic and on the verge of being a conservative talking point I would hear on fox news in justification for stripping away more rights. Pinning the struggle of US women against Iranian women is an incredibly pathetic mindset that only fosters negativity.

Both of you are right but there's definitely levels to how much worse it is in Iran

Trump: "TIME FOR PEACE"

Incredible thing to say after willingly choosing to attack someone. American hypocrisy at its finest.

Negativity of the AI crowd is so crazy to me while I'm having Claude Code Opus implement entire UIs on flutter and backend Go interfaces w/ unit and integration tests on a single go.

I have nothing to prove to you if you wish to keep doing everything by hand that's fine.

But there are plenty of engineers l3 and beyond including myself using this to lighten their workload daily and acting like that isn't the case is just arguing in bad faith or you don't work in the industry.

Four lines? Let's have realistic discussions, you're just intentionally arguing in bad faith or extremely bad at prompting AI.

It's possible the library you're using doesn't have enough training data attached to it.

I use AI with python for hundreds line data engineering tasks and it nails it frequently.

Even for non newcomers, having threads marked as duplicates for problems introduced by version changes that aren't considered in the original question/answers is a major issue.

Unfortunately until they implement a For you algorithm across all instances and abandoned their archaic hashtag following system I will not be re-attempting

I tried moving to Mastadon first a few years ago and it was a pretty shit experience, Bluesky however has stuck in my app rotation pretty well.

He's still doing it 👨‍🍳

Somehow democrats are able to continuously surpass their own worst version of themselves. It's actually incredible.

We are also changing how remote playback works for streaming personal media (that is, playback when not on the same local network as the server). The reality is that we need more resources to continue putting forth the best personal media experience, and as a result, we will no longer offer remote playback as a free feature. This—alongside the new Plex Pass pricing—will help provide those resources. This change will apply to the future release of our new Plex experience for mobile and other platforms.

Summary

  • Additional 10% tariff comes into effect on all China exports to US

  • Beijing slaps 15% levy on U.S. LNG, coal; 10% on crude, farm equipment

  • China starts anti-monopoly investigation into Google, imposes controls on rare earth exports

  • China's new tariffs on the targeted U.S. exports will start on Feb. 10

Hey guys! Has anyone had success migrating a Plex server from Windows to Linux in recent years? I'm mostly concerned about losing watch history / users (having to reinvite).

I found this Reddit thread on the issue and it seemed like a simple copy and paste of the DB file. I attempted following both the official directions from their guide and from the Reddit post and ran into a SQLite DB error similar to what another user experienced in the Reddit thread:

soci::soci_error() that sqlite3 prepare failed..Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::prepare: file is not a database for SQL: PRAGMA cache_size=512 (N4soci10soci_errorE)

Has anyone done a migration in the recent years? Seems like something might have changed within the last few and this copy and paste of the DB file will not work anymore?
