Yes, and they constantly change how parts of the UI work, most often getting more in the way of efficient actual messaging... It's really bad.

I use both and I prefer Avelon most of the time. It's sleeker and more responsive, probably because of the native code.
No one cares of it's obvious how it immediately affects them. The problem with uploading sensitive data to the Internet is more subtle, because it usually doesn't affect you right away. But once you've uploaded it, it will be there for many years waiting to be breached...
The recently released Proton Pass is also open-source and audited, keeps all the entries (including metadata) encrypted, and has a nice UI on mobile.
