Cults are defined by cult-like activity. Cult-like activity is bad because it abuses people.
If there's a "cult" that doesn't actually have cult-like activity, then it's not really a cult.
As long as everyone has an opt-out option, this seems like a really good idea.
This stuff isn't intentional. It's just that MS is really bad at handling errors. So they just gave up and put a generic message.

I'd rather just have different communities. There are some instances I'd prefer not to have to go to and this proposal would give more controls to the bigger communities.
