And so the enshittification continues. This time not for the consumers. Not yet.

With all due respect, that sounds very much like what something unsupported would do.

Non-ironically, yes. I don't link vids to just anybody!

There is no "best WM", only "best WM for you". If you're deep enough into this rabbit hole to install an alternative WM, at this point you're the best judge of what's the best, really.

If someone claims to do it for "all the optimizations", you can immediately assume they are full of shit. If anything, the true gain is the control over the features to compile or not compile into your packages.

Fair, let me buy a new phone to talk to one person instead.

My brother in christ, this is a rule 34 of this.

Is this even a problem? Elon can keep his fringe groups and trollbots, I don't mind.

Just use what your distro gives you, you shouldn’t have to care about these things.

To expand on this: OP, if you want to try a different init, you're most likely better off switching the whole distro to one using that init. Unless of course your current distro explicitly supports many different init systems (like Gentoo). Don't try to replace it by hand in a distro that expects to run on systemd, it's a recipe for disaster.

Not really new, it's been around for about a decade. Otherwise: yes.

If the recent rexxit is any indicator, most people will just yield and do as the corpo says. They don't care, they just want to keep using whatever they are used to. We have a self-selection bias problem in here in this regard.
