Holy duck! Lemmy has become r/conservative.

I'm a leftie and can't stand tankies, but lemmy is becoming a really intolerant place. On reddit we were all united against u/spez no matter our other disagreements. Here, after only a few months we're talking about blocking instances and communities instead of just joining and viewing the ones that Interest us...

Perhaps it's time to let this experiment run its course.

I've tried searx, but even simple queries returned no results. I just want sometnig reasonably private that works and doesn't turn the Web into a shopping mall.

It's the tradition silly. They just want the good old days. They're just conservatives.

Why were there only 22 nazis on trial in Nuremberg? Because the dock could only fit 22 people. How did the denazification go? Of the 1.3million nazis to be prosecuted it was only a fraction of a fraction. Germany now is not what it used to be then, but there are 'conservatives' among the good German people.

Well, there are Libertarians and libertarians. From your username I gather you're a Libertarian and not just a GOP moron libertarian who might hate corporations but will defend their "right" not to be regulated, while receiving government subsidies.

Time to ditch Prime.

TBH, it was a long ago, but this is the last straw.

It's fairly simple: encrypted software developers will leave the UK, because no one would trust the security of their SW. I'm not sure if there is an exception for online banking, but perhaps this bill will stimulate the mattress industry and encourage return to the old ways of storing money.

Am I the only one around here who thinks that it's a bad idea to let anyone launch thousands of satellites into space and control them privately?

I think it's time for international satellite treaty regulating use of this technology and the amount of them in space to the benefit of everyone. Either those satellites serve everyone or no one.

Recently I've gave up Windows for Linux and installed Ubuntu with KDE Plasma desktop on my pc and laptop from 2007. It's an i7 Intel processor with 8gb ddr ram so I thought it would be fine, but it seems quite sluggish. What distro could I use that would be faster and still fully functional? Thanks for your help in advance.

They're just an annoying bunch of wannabe communists who sound incredibly smug and post a ton of stickers in comments. Having said that I've moved to lemm.ee when lemmy.world defeterated from hexbear.

Ethics of AI porn aside, can we talk about the Pornhub search function and how shit it is?

I was flirting with Linux for 20 years. There was always something that put me off an I went back to Windows. Recently I installed ubuntu with Kde plasma and I'm not going back. It just works and is heaps faster on older hardware. The old driver issues are gone, compatibility is awesome. The only issue is getting used to new software names.

Thanks for the write up. I came to lemmy.ee because lemmy.world is defederation happy. That's how I first heard of Hexbear. Several defederations later, here I am. You're right, us, users can block communities and users from whichever instance they come from. We all curate our lists of communities. We are in charge of our experience if we are allowed to. I did not feel like I was in charge on lemmy.world and that's why I'm here. Defederations should really be thr very last resort and even then considered super carefully and perhaps put to discussion like here or a poll.

I created an account today on lemm.ee because I thought defeterating from hexbear sucked, then there were others and today was the last straw, even though I don't pirate. I didn't leave reddit for more restrictive platform. Lemmy.world sucks balls.
