You criticize but don't even have the balls to name your browser? To back up your claims?

That is pathetic.

[-] YellowtoOrange@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

There should be a referendum about this.

Ignoring the users' aggressiveness against Lemmy, is what they say true?if so, I hope this can be patched.

Btw why doesn't Spotify have a feature for an ai to create genre playlists (or any mood playlists you want) from your liked songs? If you have thousands of songs it's impractical to trawl through them creating playlists

Thank you

Is this an alternative fuxking timeline we're in?

Do republicans WANT to be seen as traitorous evil dixkheads? They seem to think they can spin anything and their idiot supporters will believe it, and, after trump, they're probably right.

Claude 2 is out! (www.anthropic.com)

Will be interesting to see how it compares to chatgpt4.

You need to activate the threads account. People are being asked to follow accounts which haven't been activated IE created.

You're missing the point.

One concern would be:

  1. Say Lemmy/kbin grows organically to 1 million users.
  2. Threads federates, with 100 million users

Do you want these users flooding Lemmy? I don't want to be biased at the theoretical type of user on Threads, though if the right wingers/trolls/extremists migrate to Threads because they think it's "more open" then that may be an issue. If it's full of soccer moms posting pictures of their kids, or karens complaining about everything, that may be an issue.

Multiculturalism is great, I want to hear new ideas, though some areas are breeding grounds for lower-think, it seems. This probably sounds prejudiced or elitist.

I want to talk to the vanguard people who take the risk and are openminded and come to lemmy, not necessarily the "lemmings" who join facebook because they love facebook and don't want to, or can't, delve deeper into why facebook is one of the worst forces in media at the moment.

I am not prejudiced (I hope) against "regular people" and "soccer moms", though think that if 10 million soccer moms came here, the discussions may not be as... interesting, as they are.

Also, I don't know what lemmy instances will think about downloading masses of data from threads.

  • Up to one-third of European flights this summer are at risk of being delayed or cancelled due to an impending strike by air traffic controllers at Eurocontrol.
  • Talks over staffing, rosters, and pay have broken down, leading to the planned walkouts during the peak summer period.
  • As a result, British holidaymakers may experience delays or cancellations, with approximately 12,600 flights across Europe potentially affected each day.

https://ploum.net/2023-06-23-how-to-kill-decentralised-networks.html

Many of us do not trust Facebook and anything it is associated with or swallows up.

EDIT:

https://techcrunch.com/2023/07/05/adam-mosseri-says-metas-threads-app-wont-have-activitypub-support-at-launch/

"Instagram head Adam Mosseri said "

““Soon, you’ll be able to follow and interact with people on other fediverse platforms, such as Mastodon. They can also find people on Threads using full usernames, such as @mosseri@threads.net.””

“We’re committed to building support for ActivityPub, the protocol behind Mastodon, into this app. We weren’t able to finish it for launch given a number of complications that come along with a decentralized network, but it’s coming,” he said.

“If you’re wondering why this matters, here’s a reason: you may one day end up leaving Threads, or, hopefully not, end up de-platformed. If that ever happens, you should be able to take your audience with you to another server. Being open can enable that.”

Good points. The musings of Lemmy/kbin/other users will be lost in the mass of karen posts, soccer moms, extremist views, god knows what else.

It's pretty obvious that those who came here from Reddit or wherevee are looking for a place that is not dictated to by commercial interests, and if threads attaches onto these communities, I guess we'll leave for somewhere else.

I don't imagine we're going to see stories in the near future about how the police abuse these powers :/

Using the great camera/video program Cinema P3 (filmic pro is now subscription based), though the videop from any app are so, so sharpened.

Thanks

Unless there's a massive data breach which affects them personally - though not sure how that would be.

The only way to go may be forcing the mega-terch companies to respect user rights, which you'd think would be a joke - and for google/facebook/microsoft that is a joke, though it is interesting that apple introduced that "opt in app do-not-track" thing last year, where facebook shat it's pants.

I asked bing chat AI, chatgpt4 (and crappy bard) and none could find such a story.

Chatgpt4:

"Unfortunately, I was not able to locate the specific story you mentioned about an individual whose Veracrypt or TrueCrypt passphrase was cracked by authorities. However, I did find information that suggests such an event is plausible.

Elcomsoft, a company that sells forensic software, announced that they had successfully cracked the latest version of Veracrypt, a fork of the now-discontinued TrueCrypt. This was achieved using an updated version of the Elcomsoft Forensic Disk Decryptor, which extracts on-the-fly encryption keys from a computer's RAM. These keys, once captured, can be used to decrypt the hard drive without having to run brute force attacks1. This does not directly answer your question, but it provides some context on the potential vulnerabilities of Veracrypt.

I have searched through numerous sources, including Hacker News, but I could not find a story that matches your description. There are many reasons why this could be the case, such as the story being removed, incorrectly recalled details, or simply the limitations of my current search capabilities"
