Andy Cooks - amazing chef, easy to follow recipes (he uses metric first), but also a nice, down to earth, no-nonsense guy.

I'm relistening to Max Brooks' "Zombie Survival Guide" while commuting and High Howey's "Dust" (from the Silo trilogy) when I can focus. I managed to listen to 15 books this year so far, and I am really proud of myself for that. :)

Hey people. I have a bit of a niche situation. I use my phone with my left hand. When I hit the full screen button in YouTube or Jellyfin or any other app that can go full screen, the screen rotates to the right. So, if I rotate the phone the "natural way" for me, to the right, the image is upside down. Usually it only takes a second for the screen to rotate to the correct orientation, but sometimes it just refuses, so i have to do a weird dance with my phone (portrait-landscape-portrait-landscape).

Any idea of a way to "fix" this? I use a pixel 8, if it matters.

I used to work for a luxury brand in one of their "unnamed" locations in Eastern Europe. A pair of shoes would cost around 50€ to produce. We would then ship them to Italy, they would add the insole and laces, label them as "made in Italy" and sell them for 1k€+...

I don't understand what this is about, but I admire the commitment, the story, the CGI. 7/10.

it's been a few quadrons for kaleun on the rim. it's a bit crowded now, 9 people and 8 mechs living in a couple of shacks... but we'll have to make due for now. she's a hard worker, sanguine, has a bunch of hobbies with no time to work on, but at least she's passionate about them :)

(random plus generated, looking for passion in social & intellectual - this was roll 9900)

Despite Firefox’s declining marketshare on desktop the browser is in use health. It’s fast and feature enough to hold its own against its rivals

Huh?

It's a 2% difference. The cutting and packaging is done (most probably) by machines. I have clinically diagnosed OCD, and I wouldn't care about 8g of missing pasta... How much do you leave on the plate/in the pot/throw away? :)

Otoh, hitting exactly 410g (assuming the scale is calibrated, and you have the same temperature, air moisture and altitude as the factory), is very difficult. They could adjust their machines so the variation hangs a bit more towards the customer, but for them, 2% x millions of boxes = profit.

One of the best private trackers out there. Sorry to see it go... You can read the reasons why in the link (in Romanian and English).

UPDATE: it's no longer shutting down:

We were overwhelmed by your wishes and messages!

You know that over the years, I've always said that the community has a significant voice. Your words have always mattered, and we've never been indifferent to them. Your voice has been heard, even now.

I am delighted to announce that the website will not be shutting down! Donations are now reactivated, so everything is returning back to normal.

One of the founders of the website, God, is back and will take over the technical aspect to ensure the site continues to thrive. He is trustworthy, loyal, and things will certainly go well from this point of view. However, we also needed someone to take care of the other aspects of the work. From now on, Oana will handle everything related to the staff, server payments, and all the internal matters that a SysOp does. She will get promoted to the SysOp class. She is more than capable and competent to maintain control and ensure that everything runs smooth internally. Congratulations!

Together, they will continue the necessary work to keep this website alive.

That being said, this announcement will be my last. I, EboLLa, am permanently retiring from the community. I want to personally thank you all for all the private messages and wishes you've sent me. There have been so many, and I genuinely appreciate them from the bottom of my heart. You are all wonderful, and I appreciate each and every one of you! I am and have been honored that I could contribute to your well-being! To all of you. Farewell and take care!

So let's wish Oana and God best of luck!

With love and appreciation, EboLLa
