I use a combination of all the things people have mentioned here, IPMI (iDRAC), SNMP, NUT for UPS's and Aqara temperature sensors in the rack all feeding into Home Assistant which has a separate "System / LAN" dashboard with pages for different hardware, etc.

Speaking from experience, I would recommend any of the NAS/Enterprise disks over your run o'mill desktop disks anyday. In my first NAS (ReadyNAS Ultra 4) , all 4 disks died within 2 years. I replaced them with WD Reds and 10 years most are still going strong. I had one fail just last month after 88,959 hours of continuous use. Stuck in new disk and back to normal. I have WD Reds, Golds and a couple Ironwolfs too. All these drives are on 24/7, either in NAS or server configs.
