This is a conjugated verb. Like ‘traffic’, the noun should NEVER get an S; no matter how much Felicia says, for the same reason ‘cattles’ is wrong.

If most people use it that way it is the standard. There is no wrong or right in language. Only an aggreed upon standard in a specific group. When studying english linguistics that was one of the very early lessons. And if you like prescriptivism: I had a look at what Merriam Webster had to say and they have an example for emails as a plural.

I am unsure if I understand you correctly. Funkwhale is for you to publish music or other audio you make yourself. Not for your commercial music library. And the software itself is under the GNU AGPLv3. You can host the software yourself on your own server or you join an instance of someone else. Just like lemmy, mastodon or all the other fediverse projects.

What are you saying? This is an open source project that is connected to the fediverse. It aims to be something comparable to soundcloud where people can share their music. What about this is says monetization?

It's a fork of kbin. I don't see any moral and ethical difference between the software lemmy or the software mbin. Both seem to offer an unfiltered access to the fediverse.

Cold silken tofu with chili oil is a great treat for hot summer days.

4gb is not a lot for a db. And it has to share it with lemmy and pictrs. It might not be enough with the standard config. Even then it might struggle if you subscribe to a lot of communities. You have to remember that every instance replicates everything the users are subscribed to. I am not sure though because my server hosts several applications and I have enough RAM.

I did host my email, but the problem wasn't the spam but the bigger email providers. Best case was my mail was marked as spam. Worst case was that I was blocked until I jumped through hoops. Email hosting is unfortunately broken.

It seems you have a few options:

  1. Put in the work yourself and change it.
  2. Finde someone who puts in their work to change it
  3. Accept that this is how it works
  4. Leave the fediverse

Option 1. has the highest chance of getting your changes but option 2. might work as well. I wish you luck if you choose these options.

Option 3. seems unlikely from your comments.

Option 4. is maybe the easiest option for you then. And I say that without wanting you gone. I'd like you to stay but I don't think the fediverse can accommodate your demands.

I'd like to point out a flaw with your analogy though: if you go to a restaurant you pay the people to make what you want. The Lemmy Devs do this for free for you. A better analogy is going to a potluck without bringing anything and being unhappy about the lack of steak.

That only works if your profile can be matched to an ad profile.

Regarding your edit: that will only help if your instance doesn't federate. If someone subscribes to the community on your instance, all actions (posts, comments, votes,...) are sent to all instances with subscribers and saved there.

Mastodon already has solid account migration so I assume this will come to lemmy as well. But at the moment the development focus is more towards stability and performance than features.
