Perhaps they could consider setting new targets before axing the old ones?

Got a gull stuck in the decorative grill on the front of our office once. Spent the whole morning shrieking, seemed like he was stuck. Called the council, SPCA, building owner, nobody wanted to help.

Then after a few hours the bastard quite calmly hopped up and flew out.

That gull was a dick. We named him Greg.

100%. Unless the toilet has a dedicated ass-wiping professional I’m not paying to use it.

Education is really important. But you can lift people out of poverty just by straight-up giving them money too. A properly-funded welfare system (or a UBI) would go a long way to truly ending poverty. Childhood poverty is such a strong predictor for anti-social behaviours like gang membership, crime, unemployment, that it blows my mind we don't just funnel money to people to break them out of the inter-generational poverty loop.

Had a persistent headache all of yesterday, took the afternoon off. This morning I realised I hadn't had any coffee yesterday. I truly am an addict.

Given that Vince is so wrong about so many things, it isn't surprising to find that also extends to finance, economics and maths.

So glad to see our city planners being praised by Chuck's outlet. I've followed Strong Towns for a few years now and they really are beating the drum for how we should build urban settlements in the future.

Well you've convinced me, I think I'll switch.

A man was rescued from the roof of his car after it got stuck in a flooded Canterbury river amid continued heavy rain in the region.

Protip: do not attempt to ford a river when there is heavy flooding.

And, when the rescue staff are on their way to get you, do not unexpectedly leap off the roof of your car into the water like this clown apparently did.

She’s been missing since Wednesday. If you have any information, no matter how trivial, please contact the Police on 105.

Similar to what happened with Mastodon. You get waves of people jumping in, and with every wave the engagement grows.

The memes are definitely better on lemmy already, anyway.

There's a convention centre right next door - with no parking facilities - that sees much larger events than the ones that happen at the Court Theatre, and that doesn't seem to have any issues. Similar for the Isaac Theatre Royal. There are over 1000 parking spaces within walking distance. Get a grip mate.

Not sure why this is news… seems like a sensible way to make sure the meetings run properly.

NZ Post claim they delivered a parcel to me this morning, but no sign of it anywhere on my property.

Normally I’d just roll my eyes, but this one contains some medication.
