2045: We are now in receivership as the impact of the Climate Wars and collapse of the global food supply means we can no longer fly. Wellington airport is 2 feet underwater anyway.

Nitrates in drinking water are linked to cancer and birth defects. In high-enough concentrations it can trigger blue-baby syndrome, which can straight-up kill babies.

Daily drive a 9500 on latest Fedora. Only thing that doesn’t work is the fingerprint scanner and honestly I don’t care in the slightest.

I think so, Rotorua is a crater lake that apparently drains to Rotoiti, but Rotoiti doesn’t seem to drain to anywhere.

I guess you could dig canals to connect all these bodies of water, and then connect that out to sea, but it would be a massive job.

Yup! He delivered it to my neighbour. NZ Post support were really good - they could see he’d parked up outside the wrong house.

Kind of a shame, they’ve always been pretty solid for me.

Australian number, a robot announced that Visa had detected $1600 of gift cards had been bought with my credit card - press 1 to decline, 2 to confirm.

So, I pressed 2. It put me through to a very polite gentleman who had no idea what to do if the person they’re trying to scam says they did spend all that money on the gift cards, and after a very confused attempt to convince me I didn’t buy all the gift cards, he hung up. They maybe need to improve their script.

Just an FYI - Visa won’t call you directly about suspicious activity on your card, that’s the job of your bank. If you get a call like that and you really can’t be sure it’s a scam, hang up and call your bank with whatever number is on their website and get them to confirm.

I knew the scam was a scam instantly, because I have set the limit on my credit card as low as it can go, so it is actually impossible to buy so many gift cards with it. Always set your credit limit as low as you can handle to limit your risk if you do fall for a scam.

Interesting implementation. Not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing that it puts the “I’m a bot” message at the start of the post. It means all the posts look the same when scrolling a feed, but they are also clearly marked as bot content.

Personally I won’t be using that particular community - I’d rather foster organic content that is native to lemmy. Some of the larger Mastodon instances (including the .nz one) ban autobot-posting such as this because it actually decreases engagement.

The tl;dr is that zones are basically gone and everything is a flat $2 if paying with Metrocard.

I think this simplification will be part of the groundwork they’re doing to prepare for the National Ticketing Solution rolling out in 2024.

If there's an air-gap between the slab and your floor, and you can get in there, then yeah it will help. Concrete is remarkably porous to water.

Put Albon back in that car, now that he has the experience. He's proving how good he is at Williams.
