nobody can tell you yes or no as it is entirely dependent on variables only you have the most knowledge of. are you aware of the risks and rewards? have you weighed them appropriately? i guess we can help you there but ultimately it won't be age that determines whether or not you should pursue higher education. do it if you want to, but do it for you.. not to get a job, or a career, or anything else.

the first quarter of the year has come to an end and we have been blessed with three months of glorious music. what were your favorites from the beginning of the year? mine are posted.

i always check to see if human-to-human transmission has occurred yet or not.. worried of the day when it will. i hope it doesn't happen. we are not going to survive anything deadlier than COVID. we are still in the midst of the pandemic and people act as though shit went back to normal. i hear "back during covid" all the time in conversations and have to dissociate so i don't correct them with an emotional outburst. there's simply no way we make it through a virus with double-digit mortality rates without long-term societal and financial damage.

it is unbelievable to me that women are now more unsafe than they ever have been because of anti-trans hysteria. these people want to "protect women" but have only made a non-existent problem real. way to fucking go.

last time it was like this was in the 30s. typical of Americans to forget their history after 100 years of it. they have created an uneducated half to complicate those who've learned.

ah sure, fair point. i kind of glossed over that lol. yeah.. i wouldn't necessarily agree with that assessment if its meant to be a genuine statement (maybe it's an exaggeration born out of frustration?) but i can empathize with how the commenter arrived to that conclusion. i can follow the logic as an atheist myself who happens to be somewhat of an antitheist. however, i think it's ignorant of anyone to say religion cannot be a source of good for a community or individual. religion is complicated, it isn't a homogenous group of thinkers. you cannot have all concepts of it share one universal tenant, i.e. fascism, because there are hundreds of thousands of religions and many do not know about each other or the cultures around them. how could they all be fascist?

What are you talking about? This is a comment in relation to an event that doesn't have Christianity tied to it as a primary religion, and throughout world history it has been well established that religion in general will be used by those in power to accomplish their goals. sometimes those people are willing to kill in the name of said goals or beliefs.

this is a choice everyone should be allowed to make. although i understand the concerns of the disabled woman in the video (for example, Canada's MAID has some alarming issues) she is wrong to imply access to assisted suicide means disabled people are not worth as much as abled people. unfortunately, capitalists would rather kill sick people than spend money to save them, so abuse will occur as long as profit is part of our culture, but dying on your own terms as opposed to the whims of an illness is giving you your control back. there is no humanity in suffering. we don't even let terminal patients suffer, we pump them full of drugs. everyone should have the right to avoid a prolonged, painful death.

this is rather positive. my boyfriend is worried because dementia affected both his grandparents. i'm glad to read each successive generation had lower rates.

TikTok has become a massive competitor in the ecommerce industry as of late, and their global gross sales within their shop program doubled from 2023 to 2024. TikTok's priority has now shifted towards creators who sell products and even encourages new users to begin their entrepreneurship within TikTok and become their own store. TikTok wants everyone to sell sell sell and that is simply not sustainable. You will eventually have a community of salespeople pitching to each other.

Not only that but TikTok is extremely deceptive and manipulative. Their algorithm dangles success in front of creators and sellers and then pulls it out from under them to keep them on their toes so they generate more and more for TikTok. There are so many independent stores on TikTok who now claim selling on the platform has become their full-time job. That's nooooooooooot good lol.

Their shop is growing bigger, doubling in size every year (same trend from 2022 to 2023), and too many people are relying upon continued success to keep themselves financially stable. When this bubble bursts it's going to be a disaster for these folks.
