Looking for fiction with good trans representation that my family might read. Need books that:

  1. Normalize trans experiences for cis individuals,
  2. Match specific genres/themes for each family member, and
  3. Don't scream "trans" from the cover.

Dad's into Tom Clancy, so a military submarine thriller with trans representation would be ideal—super specific, right? Wonder how that would play out!

You don’t know your Marx? socialism-transition-communism

Marx, therefore, further refined the concept of a “transition society” and introduced the idea that the development of communist society would take place in two phases. In the first stage, “socialism” as he called it, the commune state was still necessary both to defeat all attempts at counter-revolution and to reconstruct the international economic system on an egalitarian and planned basis.

In case you didn’t know… https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2013/12/30/242429836/why-being-gypped-hurts-the-roma-more-than-it-hurts-you

"I encounter a lot of people who tell me that they never knew the word 'gypped' had anything to do with gypsies, or that it's offensive — especially when the word is heard not read," says University of Texas at Austin professor Ian Hancock, who was born in Britain to Romani parents. "My response to them is, That's okay. You didn't know but now you do. So stop using it. It may mean nothing to you, but when we hear it, it still hurts."

See when ai video generation comes to consumer tools, you will be able to actually ask for a video of almost anything… it might just suck and take hundreds of tries till you get something close to what you want… or it might take loading a separate, slightly different model.

Feminizing Makeup Tutorials? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Disclaimer
"Passing" especially for others is not the goal, although none of us can deny that is does feel good when a stranger even for a second correctly genders you.
Although, it sucks like hell if they "correct" themselves right afterward.

Looking for tutorial recommendations, because I have watched a few that were not that informative and kinda condescending.

I have been kinda winging it with the makeup knowledge my Ex taught me, but kinda think I could do better.

And Jellyfin has third party music player apps for android and IOS.

Jellyfin's the way to go IMO, screw Plex and their constant BS.

You give that up that strategy and lean into fixing shit when you put the time in to customize the OS and desktop/window manager experience... at that point you should understand your system well enough to make fixing it easier, and you are also afraid of having to redo some of your customization. That being said, you still should make regular system backups, especially if you are tinkering with the OS experience a lot.
