It's a chat with your friend and his friend, who you don't really like, but for some reason have to see whenever you see your friend because now it's become the thing you do.

Denmark. I bought something from the US. About 300 DKK. I had to pay for shipping. About 300 DKK. I had to pay the toll. I had to pay a mandatory 120 DKK fee for the postal service to charge the toll. I had to pay taxes on the fee. I had to pay taxes on the purchase. I had to pay taxes on the shipping.

In the end I paid about 1000 DKK for a 300 DKK package.

I too came to the comments to look that up. It means poor, apparently.

Then why use the label "Patriarchy"? It has a very specific meaning that I don't feel applies to many western societies and definitely not to the sociatal structure and norms that we happen to live in, regardless of who is in charge. I think we agree on everything but the term.

I hate this way of putting it, especially because it puts the blame on a single gender. It's not JUST men who shoehorn people into gender roles, we all do it.

It's off putting to me and I tend to dismiss the entire thing because it basically says that men being bad also hurts men. Had it said that men also are victims of gender roles I would immediately agree, and I can't imagine that I'm the only one who feels this way.

By that reasoning the nukes dropped over Japan is but an insignificant moment in history and of no importance what so ever.

An AI tool was used to add an extra layer to the editing process for this story.

For crying out loud, stop that!

My only argument I can come up with is that other people have friends, so $25 will be less than going to the cinema because they don't have to pay that price for each person watching. It's still ridiculously expensive though.

I lived in a dorm with private rooms, but social kitchen. When I stayed in my room I felt bad, since I could be in the kitchen socialising with other people.

When I moved out of the dorm to my own apartment I completely stopped agonising about having to spend time with people, and could just relax alone at home. It was a great relief.

When you have a great programmer working on your project he will be cycled to a new project in 2-3 months. Your new senior developer who silently takes over the project is part time because he's working on finishing his education.

No one knows how anything works, except that one guy, who left the company half a year ago. That's how all software development is.
