They 100% are easily manipulated by propaganda.

Trump said Biden left the border open? They repeat it.

Trump said trans inmates are using all the taxpayer dollars? They repeat it.

Trump says immigrants are eating cats and dogs and taking over apartment complexes? They repeat it.

Every single talking point, they repeat it.

And the right wing misinformation machine is operating at its peak. They are getting news agencies to change the way they cover stories to be more in line with what the Trumpists are pushing. They are punishing dissent inside the government and in any group that deals with the government. They are pressuring social media sites to increasingly moderate progressive comments. There is an overall atmosphere that is increasing in the country l where it's acceptable to censor free speech. Either you get in line with the Trump administration, or you become a target.

Fuck America and fuck Americans that say shit like this. Signed, an American.

Rofl, America is far from the best.

And even worse? They're losing it all while the offending political party mocks and belittles them. Yeah, it's gonna get bad. They fly Trump flags in front of their houses and wear the merch and decorate their offices with it so...

It won't be hard for the resistance to find them.

I could certainly see this being something they're doing. Flooding the zone to give the impression of support. The problem with right wing rhetoric is that it's very attractive to the uninformed. It's really really easy to be a racist, for example. It's much harder to instill empathy.

I think it's working. Right as people were finally leaving Twitter during the election season and moving to Lemmy, Blue sky, mastodon, threads, etc. The election was already in full swing. So support on the left was fractured and disconnected from the main spaces where it would reach normal folks. Twitter, Truth Social, and Facebook remained strong and their message was everywhere all the time.

What do we do to stop it though? Grass roots grow Lemmy into something respectable? By the time it gets popular enough to matter, the right will invade and corrupt it.

I just upgraded to a Pixel 6 from Galaxy S8. The Galaxy had a panel that could easily be popped off. I realize this new phone does not. My bad.

I wish I could believe this. I've made the mistake of engaging with them on MSN and it's a full blown Jonestown style cult. They are ready to lose everything for Trump.

Yeah I'm not proud to say it but it's just getting to that point. What other options are there? Just let them destroy the country and when it's finally down to not having food or water, maybe then we fight? Pathetic. The French would already have Paris on fire.

Not possible as long as 90% of the public just need to be told that trans people are evil. I'm sorry man. I'm glad you're optimistic but I'm increasingly convinced this is going to end in violence.

Even worse. I don't know why they show up and pretend to be journalists. They are just propaganda mouthpieces anymore. And they have no loyalty to each other as journalists. If one of them gets ignored by the White House they just allow it and move on rather than imagining themselves as the target instead. It's sick. This country is absolutely fucked and the populace is to blame.

It's not changing minds. They laugh at the cratering stock market and subsequent outrage. They're gonna need something a little more corporeal than a loud protest chant.
