There a reason if the alternative doesn't exist or isnt good enough.

It's reasonably common.

Teams fail together, even if it is the fault of an individual. Use your voice and don't approve PRs if you don't believe they are production ready.

I'm really not a fan of Discord. Why would anyone use a platform that's not accessible without making an account and requires an invite to each group? If it wasn't branded towards gamers I don't think it would have much appeal.

This is speculation but I suspect people are already oversubscribed to social media and just spending a bit longer in other places they already go. So if they're on Discord, they're probably just spending more time there.

It's OK. Downvotes don't matter too badly here.

I'd say Apple being a lifestyle brand means the users aren't going to have privacy as a primary concern is the real reason behind this. And it's hard to get out of the walled garden once you're in.

Most people dont want an OS to be different. They are happy if it boots up and does what they want to do. It's not lazy, it's an active disagreement with the premise.

This is why nobody upgrades to Windows 10 from 7, or to 11 from 10. Security risks and lack of features aside, their OS just works for them.

These things are only a concern to enthusiasts.

This is just good practice. You don't have to trust anyone's word that what you're installing is what they say it is when you can trust your own eyes.

It never was. Read Apple's true privacy agreement on their website. It's the one you agree to but don't read when you boot up your shiny new mac or iphone for the first time. They are no different from Microsoft or Google, they are just the best at cultivating an image.

You could probably fit all of the nuclear waste America produces in few trucks. It's not as much as people think.

Friends and family, sure But in the UK nothing official is using WhatsApp. It's all SMS or email. In which countries do companies use WhatsApp for customer support?

You're still using messenger, though. I'm sure they can farm enough data out of you from the browser.

Hopefully we can help create new communities on Lemmy. Nothing will truly replace Reddit but new groups will be created and over time they will become great.
