What's not in their jeans is probably in their genes.
Key word is "state mandated", only the state of Victoria was locked down, I think COVID barely scratched the other states. I also lived in NZ at the time, and as you recall, we barely got COVID and I spent 2020 and 2021 skiing and partying. Thanks to clever leadership, not seen in the US at the time.
As for UK healthcare, I quickly researched where Australia stacked up in the world and by most metrics, the UK was overwhelmingly the best. Unlike the weirdly propagandized Americans, I don't have to do weird mental gymnastics to try and force my country at the top. I can accept facts.
We keep up with the mortgage because the minimum wage here is $16USD.
The average Australian citizen pays $17,000 in taxes as opposed to $14,000 for seppos.
For that, I know myself and all my fellow Australians will never be crippled with medical debt, as going to the hospital is always free. We have the second best health care in the world, right next to the UK.
Us Aussies like to look out for each other, rather than you individualistic, seemingly selfish yanks.
In Maori, Maua means "we", or "both of us". It's also shorthand for "we share similar beliefs".
Could have gone that route.
Eew keep your gross American opinions to yourself.
Wherever there's birds, it's irresponsible to let cats out. NZ in particular, it's a damn massacre out there.
There often more caffeine in a standard coffee than half a litre of monster energy drink.
I pre-ordered a pair of shoes online and the website asked for a tip.
In Australia.
When is CRISPR going to grant me immortality god damnit. Every year that drips past is one less with my immortality guarantee.
I want to be immortal even if it kills me.
I tried to buy some shoes online, was told they were on back order (which is fine), then they asked for a tip. I wrote a complaint saying "you want a tip for a service you literally haven't provided on an online store with zero staff interaction". I ranted and raved about how, while the tip is optional, asking for it is like a multi-million dollar company rattling a can at me for spare change. They replied with "the tip is optional". Dogs.
I miss my smart watch waking me up outside of detected REM sleep.
On the Microsoft Band you could set a time window where the alarm would go off - say between 0700-0800. If you're in REM sleep at 0700, the alarm stays off until you naturally rouse, or 0800.
I've worked as a sleep scientist for 7 years, and the idea of not being woken out of REM is such a neat idea, and yet no other watch seems to do it.
Good point, corrected.
