People say it in person a lot. Another factor might be that some people view it coming across as either non genuine or passive aggressive in written form.

Looking forward to visiting the new museum. They're going to open up the whole space to the public and only have 1 permanent exhibition.

A bear warning is in place for the West Bragg Creek Provincial Recreation Area after "a surprise encounter with a grizzly bear that resulted in a bluff charge."

This is in addition to a full closure of a section of nearby Moose Mountain, where a black bear had been seen feeding on a carcass in late September.

I guess the joke is that someone is using logic and reasoning to figure out what propels a car as though it was some great mystery that needed to be analyzed and thought about. I don't think it's very funny and it could have also been your friend's delivery.

Unfortunately, upon arriving in Paris, her husband's luggage didn't turn up. Missing was a large backpack with belongings they specifically packed for the safari, including hiking shoes.

I think the point was that her initial reaction to the YouTube videos was not appropriate to the nature of the videos.

  1. She stalker your ex online because she's feeling insecure and wanted to compare her to herself
  2. She watched them all even though it was causing her discomfort
  3. She gave you the cold shoulder because of harmless videos with your ex. Is she expecting you to not have a life before her?

Scammers PSA (lemmy.ca)

There is a set of scammers who have been all over Calgary and nearby towns. They set up at a busy corner and pretend to play an electric violin. They have music playing out of a speaker and one of them mimes along to the music. The other one has a badly written sign asking for money. Please don't give them any money.

Can't go anywhere without mine now. Movies, sporting events, bars. Just way too loud without earplugs

Yep same thing with all those ads like 90% fail this. They're designed to drive engagement. Best thing you can do is stop doom scrolling. Failing that, ignoring those obvious attempts to get you to respond.

I don't think they're making things worse, but as the article states, governments could be doing more. Incentivize purpose built rental units, provide better food security supports instead of parachuting money in.
