Found a colony of these european hornets living inside of a stone wall in Spain. I held my camera by the entrance and took shots as soon as I saw one come out. Ended up with maybe about ~50 blurry images and this nice one.

The photo was cropped and post-processed using Rawtherapee. I increased the local contrast and added some tone mapping and vignetting to make the hornet pop more against the background.

The original JPEG output by the camera is this:

v1.9.13 fix PieFed

PieFed was broken if you

  • Block a person
  • Block a community
  • Moderate a community

That has all been fixes in v1.9.13

Next up!

Give those a try, and let me know if you like seeing early previews like that.

I’m trying to formulate a long term plan

  • Lemmy V1 is going to ship later this year. I suspect a lot of clients that aren’t maintained are going to break. I would like to get Blorp to a place where I can be a home for all those new users.
  • Anyone here who’s first language isn’t English? Interested in Blorp being translated into your language?
  • I have no idea how to market this app. I’m estimating I may have 400ish users. I honestly have no idea. Could be much higher or much lower. My marketing mostly consists of me annoying people on Lemmy into using Blorp. At least that’s how I percieve it, and I cring a little at myself.
  • I have no idea how to build out a team, but if you have any skills that you feel could contriute to this project, please don’t be shy. I would like Blorp to be bigge than myself.

the scale of Kingsborough’s project was enormous — nine volumes (with a tenth planned but never completed), collectively weighing in at nearly 30 kg and featuring lush color facsimiles of Mexican pictorial manuscripts. The series of books, whose content ran the gamut — from Mayan astrological tables and Mixtec genealogies, to agricultural records and religious rites — faithfully reproduced virtually all pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican books in European collections at the time.

James Dobson, a politically influential child psychologist who started a radio show counseling Christians on how to be good parents, founded the conservative ministry Focus on the Family and was a campaigner against abortion and gay rights, died on Thursday. He was 89.

His death was confirmed by the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute.

Dobson founded Focus on the Family in 1977, which had more than 1,000 employees at its peak and gave Dobson a platform to weigh in on legislation, advise White House panels and advocate against laws to ban conversion therapy to “cure” gay people.

He served on President Donald Trump ’s Evangelical Executive Advisory Board.

Dobson left Focus on the Family in 2010 and founded the institute that bears his name and continued with the Family Talk radio show, which is nationally syndicated and is carried by 1,500 radio outlets with more than half a million listeners weekly, according to the institute.

After a series of meetings with a range of Palestinian political leaders, parties and factions, Hamas formally agreed last week to a series of major concessions in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, according to a copy of the framework obtained by Drop Site News. Israel has not responded to the proposed agreement for an initial 60-day ceasefire drafted by Egypt and Qatar. Instead, it moved forward with a mobilization of 60,000 reserve troops in what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised will be a massive ground invasion of Gaza City aimed at ethnically-cleansing nearly a million Palestinians from the north of the enclave.

“Netanyahu's disregard for the mediators’ proposal, and his failure to respond, confirms that he is the real obstacle to any agreement and that he does not care about the lives of his captives nor is he serious about retrieving them,” Hamas said in a statement Wednesday night. “The Zionist terrorist government insists on continuing its brutal war against innocent civilians by escalating its criminal operations in Gaza City, aiming to destroy it and forcibly displace its people—constituting a full-fledged war crime.”

Jaishankar said that relations between the two countries had been among the steadiest of major nations in the world since World War Two, referring to a close friendship going back to the days of the Soviet Union.

The two countries reaffirmed their ambition to expand bilateral trade, including by increasing India's exports to Russia, Jaishankar said, according to a statement from India's foreign ministry.

Hundreds of workers and civil rights leaders in Kansas City expressed anger over efforts to redraw congressional maps to favor Republicans. Advocates say they're working to keep the same from happening to Missouri, even as President Trump declares that the state "is now IN."

Also, why dont off shore windmills operations build off existing unused structures like out of commission oil rig platforms? Assuming the biggest additional cost is building the same as land structure but without hundreds of feet of additional structure for new off shore windmill structures?

Edit: im admittedly uneducated on this, but read about technology like (as stated in reply below) laser deterrents or Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRAD) dont work, then strap a fucking dog whistle for birds on the blades should be in the realm of possibilities.
