Tuesday's report details firsthand accounts of several Gazans who say they are doing everything they can to protect themselves and their families from becoming human shields for Hamas militants.

Nasser al-Zaanin, for example, was forced to flee his home in northern Gaza in October, and relocated to a school that had been turned into a shelter in the town of Deir al-Balah, along with his adult sons and grandchildren. When al-Zaanin arrived at the shelter, he helped set up a system of committees to improve life for families who had taken refuge by overseeing the distribution of food, water and medical needs. They also established one hard and fast rule: no armed men allowed in the compound.

"All the families agreed," said al-Zaanin, who once worked as a civil servant for the Palestinian Authority in Gaza. "We simply want to save all families, women and children and not let there be any potential threat against us because of the existence of police and members of the Hamas government."

So the article from an Israeli newspaper, says that Palestinians are fleeing their homes to avoid being used as human shields by Hamas? Not because they are being exterminated like vermin by Israel?

If Israel can conduct such a targeted attack on Hizbolah, (asuming that it was indeed israel who did it) it is amazing that they have been so terrible at targeting Hamas among civilian Palestinians

Israel is well on their way to achieve their goal:
Make 100% sure every single Hamas member and sympathizer in Gaza is dead.

It's a left wing newspaper that has been regularly posted here from extremely pro-Palestinian users.

That's not what the article says. They are fleeing their homes because of the airstrikes and evacuation orders. They are attempting to institute rules in the shelters to keep out Hamas (who have repeatedly infiltrated humanitarian zones in order to continue staging military operations from within humanitarian zones).

targeted attack on Hizbolah

Hamas and Hezbollah are two very different entities, although they share a lot philosophically. What percentage of deaths in Gaza have been Hamas fighters?

That is... Kind of true but not really. Haaretz is (to ky knowledge) a large left-leaning newspaper that does indeed have a generally good track record but they also have multiple instances of matching blatant Israeli propaganda.

I know that, but Haaretz = left is only a trend and not a rule that holds 100% of the time. They do good investigative journalism, but they're also Israeli and affected by the Israeli political climate, which is like... that. This results in them occasionally parroting unproven Israeli propaganda. Cosmicrookie dismissing the article because they're Israeli is definitely misguided, but the jury is still out on how widespread the phenomenon they're reporting on is.

Haaretz is still reviewed by Israel before publication, like all Israeli and even Western Media Outlets, but they can still put out credible news. I'd say when it comes to Israeli News Coverage, Haaretz and 972+ Magazine put out the most credible coverage of what's going on. However within Israel they have a very small audience compared to the main Right Wing News Outlets, that may be why they get away with being more critical of the Israeli Government. However that doesn't mean Haaretz is immune to posting misinformation.

They are good to use for many subjects on Israel - Palestine, but it also shows the importance of using multiple sources. Cross referencing articles with works of Historians, like Ilan Pappe or Avi Schlaim to name a couple, and also Human Rights Organizations like B'TSelem or Amnesty, is critical for getting a comprehensive view of the situation.

As soon as Hamas opens up and hands out those crates of totally unsuspicious "secure personal pagers" that just kinda washed up on the beach you'll see your dream come true
