MODERATORS
There is no mention at all of any payment for the summer intern in the article. Shouldn't be a surprise, really.
Whole article about how massive success stories are one legal battle away from not being made in this country, as well as the exploitation of workers' other skills without additional (if any) compensation. They completely miss that angle on the story somehow.
I thought this was missing in the text too, but it's valve, they're well know for treating their employees much better than other companies. Tech interns are almost always paid, even by the more exploitive companies.
I wouldn't assume this was an unpaid intern or that they didn't get a bonus for saving valve just because there's nothing mentioned in the article.
