I only found out a few years ago that Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by Crash Test Dummies was commonly regarded as one of the worst songs of the 90s, but it reminds me of middle school and summers at the pool. Same with Sex And Candy by Marcy Playground.
Hanging out, downtown by myself, and there's just too much Marcy, Playground in my head, and there it was
I love that song.
Like Disco lemonade…
The other day I heard sex and candy for the first time in ages. I got immediate nostalgia. The song has a GREAT hook and I totally see why middle school me liked it. Sex. Candy. Cool vibe.
But hearing it now, i quickly realized the lyrics aren’t mysterious/poetic. They are meaningless and had nothing to say except repeating the chorus over and over and over because the words sound good together.
You should give the album a try. It's really good.
Which album? The Marcy’s playground one or crash test dummies?
Marcy Playground. Oddly enough, there's another comment on this thread about them that I replied to as well.
I’ve been on an 80s and early 90s kick lately, revisiting music from my childhood. I’ll add that to my list. Thanks!
What!? Mmm Mmm Mmm is a great song! Who says it's not!? Give me their name, number and address.
