/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Man it was really stupid (and cringe) of them to talk about musk in discovery. And it aged terrible lol

[–] sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org 91 points 2 months ago (1 children)

OMG yeah that reference aged like a Cybertruck.

[–] kameecoding@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

That would mean not at all, or is it because blew up in their face? Or because the reference just didn't work? Or because it's stupid, man this line of yours has layers.

[–] Repelle@lemmy.world 64 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They could have at least read up about him if they were going to name drop, it was clear if you paid attention back then how bad he was, though it was more understandable for someone not paying attention to not know

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 47 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Jason Isaacs improvised the musk part in hopes of getting a Tesla

He mentioned it in an aftershow

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 32 points 2 months ago

I’m gonna keep believing, he said that because he knew he was from the mirror universe.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 21 points 2 months ago

The dumb fuck.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Was it before or after the "pedo submarine" thing?

Because I'm having a hard time understanding how much attention one would need to pay.

[–] Repelle@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I think before. Pedo submarine comment was 2018 and I believe this was 2017. He had made crazy comments but nothing was big news at that point iirc

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Honestly, a better analogy is Henry Ford.

Though to be fair, I am pretty sure Edison wasn’t a fascist, because fascism hadn’t been invented yet

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

An asshole is an asshole is an asshole. I get you, though

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Hadn't been invented, or just hadn't been discovered yet?

[–] exploitedamerican@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago

I think the right word to use here is “defined”

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Hadn’t been marketed properly.

Ideologies are invented, not discovered.

[–] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes Henry Ford certainly had no problematic aspects

I mean that Henry Ford was an overt fascist, so the comparison to Musk is more apt.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

When was this episode aired originally?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (2 children)
[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

All right yeah that's what I thought. Well past when red flags were already coming up all over the place. No excuse for them to have been worshiping him by that date.

[–] AlexisFR@jlai.lu 7 points 2 months ago

Heeeh, the pedo thing was a year later, that's when he really exposed himself to the mainstream audience.

[–] milkisklim@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To this day , that title is in my list of top 5 titles, and probably the top Disco title.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] milkisklim@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago

That is also a great one and the other contender for best Disco title IMO.
