When I lived with my parents I used to leave my bedroom window open throughout the year so that my cats could get in and out.
It bothered my mom, every time she walked past my room she'd complain that it felt like an arctic breeze coming out of there. I'd have my door propped open just a bit for the cats to pass through.
Man... I loved it. I would bundle up in some nice, thick blankets and pull one over my head but I'd be on the edge of the pillow with just my nose sticking out for fresh air.
Winter > summer sleeping any time.
And those mosquitoes... I'd be up early hours of the morning hunting them down. Ceiling fan did little to stop them from feasting on me.
I hope you keep your cats inside now.
Sadly, they are long gone :(
But this was a house with a nice, large back yard that they were pretty much safe in.
I now live abroad and my lease does not allow for pets.
I would love to have cats again, but to find a flat that allows them is rare. When last I searched for a flat, I got 48 results matching my criteria. I checked the box for 'allows pets' and... 0 results.
Glad you kept your cats safe. Shame that so many landlords are so stingy about pets. Cats are relatively low maintenance compared to dogs. Maybe somewhere out there is a landlord that isn't such a hardass. Here's to hoping, lol.
