Just a standard wild Friday night, reviewing my car insurance and downgrading it to third party. 🤣

I'd compare my energy company options and review my internet plan too, but I already did that rerecently. So in the interests of being as dull and adulty as possible I will have to go and do the washing up and go to bed at a sensible time.

After a cup of tea and a digestive.

I recently went through all my direct debits and subscriptions, and cancelled everything I could possibly get away with. Some things I didn't really want to, but I've had to take a razor to the finances. Far from feeling accomplished and pleased about it, I felt strangely depressed and like a failure.

That is such a humbling experience. A once state of the art vehicle reduced to a shitbox. Hugs.

She's given me 18 years of good service so far (if we ignore the whole alternator incident) and will hopefully have quite a few more years. But she's not worth a lot now, so the insurance is not worth paying the premiums for. If I can manage to not cause an accident and write the car off for about 5 years I should have saved back as much in premiums as an accident claim would give me.

After dinner walk, it’s beautiful out. A proper warm night.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

It is a nice night. Enjoy

Packing for my flight back to Melbs tonight! Had an excellent break with family and am now ready to come back.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

We welcome you.

Not a lot. Sunburn recovery, house cleaning ready for guests, and maybe a few drinks once done. BOTH (I tell you) BOTH my local fish & chipperies are closed over January. Should not happen to a dog.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago

My local bakery closed over January. How I crave a sausage roll even more now.

Binging Schitt's Creek. Totally not tearing up after the Meet The Parents episode.

[-] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Lounging like a beached whale after making pepperoni pizzas with the Minipeelers.

On the couch recovering from prepping the laundry for painting and some gardening. I’m knackered!

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Tip for painting: wear a shower cap or you could end up with hair tips.

[-] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago

Oh good idea! Painting tomorrow so I’ll do that

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago

Getting paint out of hair is not fun. Slap some on your feet too.

[-] wscholermann@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

Watching a French sci fi series called "Missions"

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

I'm sorry Greta. I said what I said. I can't retract.

Back home after spending the afternoon out, ate the last of my delicious red curry and watching the rest of Silo with the fan on and a nice refreshing glass of coconut water.

Oh my god Juliette is so annoying. And the dialogue/writing is soooo cliché and contrived. Typical YA bullshit. The premise/world is lovely though, the props and set are beautiful. I've got the ebooks now though to read after the I finish the show...

I kinda hope she dies at some point in the show, either this season or down the track...

Oh realised you might mean whole set not episode. Do you not know it?

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Not an inkling. I've lived a sheltered life.......

[-] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

Oh! It’s an early 2000 series.about MI5. British spy stuff. The technology was hilarious even then. X-files without aliens, more sex. You can track the latest ‘terrorist’ panic per series.

Curled awkwardly around the cat, shopping online because my new planner arrived in the wrong size and I need more socks/jocks. Debating finishing a drawing and struggling to concentrate enough to learn new skills. Watching cartoon clips. Waiting on the council to collect my missed bins.

Slowly going out of my mind with the sameness of life and about to chew plaster.
