The Democratic-led U.S. Senate moved towards the final passage of a $95.34 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan on Monday, amid growing doubts about the legislation's fate in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

The lawmakers voted 66-33 to exceed a 60-vote margin and sweep aside the last procedural hurdle before final consideration of the bill. Senate leaders had expected a vote on passage sometime on Wednesday.

Good. Now replace the house speaker so it can sail to the presidents desk.

I wish isreal wasn't in there though. They seem to have plenty for genocide and superb owl ads.

I'm puzzled by Taiwan.

Are they in a war I wasn't aware of?

China intends to invade and has said as much dozens of times. This is to help prepare them and I think their war will look like a naval version of ukraines war.

A Taiwan war would have a much bigger impact on the west in the short term compared to the Ukraine war

China intends to invade

Do they or does it benefit them to regularly rattle their saber?

China intends reunification. That doesn't require invasion, especially when the Chinese nationalist party is performing so well in elections.

I could see China invading if Taiwanese nationalists ever tried to break away from China, but that doesn't look likely. In fact, America so clearly supporting Taiwanese nationalism is hurting them electorally!

Your right that reunification is what China wants, but it's only reunification if both sides want it and it's done with a stroke of a pen and a handshake rather than with military might. Taiwan clearly doesn't want it and China has been harassing them with "military exercises" near their territory. They can call it whatever they want but that's invasion. It's the same kind of irredentist logic Russia uses to justify invading ukraine.

Again, the Chinese nationalists just won a lot of seats in the government. Not enough for a controlling majority, but they're the largest Party at this point. It's actually not clear that they don't want it.
