From the first moments of the war, it was clear that right-wing Israeli politicians and settler leaders sensed an opportunity to radically shift the status quo in Israel-Palestine. For months, calls to resettle Gaza — often in the same breath as calling to expel the Strip’s 2.3 million Palestinian residents — have been getting louder, not least at a major conference in Jerusalem in January at which senior officials laid out their plans. In parallel, right-wing activists — mostly youth — have been coming regularly to the Gaza fence to demonstrate against the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip. Yesterday’s action, however, marked a new peak in their activities.

For several hours, those who had crossed into the space between the two walls continued building the outpost — which they named New Nisanit, after one of the settlements in Gaza that was evacuated as part of the 2005 “disengagement” — without interference. As in the West Bank, the soldiers stood nearby and provided protection, rather than trying to stop them.

“There was no fear of being inside [Gaza], the Holy One is with us and the IDF is here helping us,” Remer said. “We came here [because] we wanted to go home. I live in a community of deportees from Gush Katif [the Jewish settlement bloc inside Gaza that was evacuated in 2005], and we wanted to go back. After everything that happened, there’s no doubt that we have to go back.

It's a little different. Ukraine at no point wanted to wipe Russia off the map.

Since absolutely no one except you thought the comment was pointing to the Ukraine instead of Russia, I'd say it's you who is lacking in facts.

Please explain how the two situations are similar and different. I know you can do the first part.

Surely you meant that Palestinians (and Palestine) are subjected to war crimes, aggression and attempts to extinguish nation, lineages and historical contexts? Similarly to Ukraine.

I guess the difference is that Palestine instigated the fight (because they're oppressed because they want to instigate the fight because they're oppressed, etc.)

Ukraine really did nothing wrong.

Palestine instigated the fight? When, 1947 or 1948?

Hamas is not Palestine. Hamas is an extreme. But I guess the Polish (with support of allied troops) instigated the fight against WWII Germany as well post invasion.

Edit: and those damned Boy Scout troops in Poland were apparently so horrendous that they deserved being rounded up and massacred as well, those evil 8-17 year olds.

Hamas is not Palestine.

But it's pretty close.

Seventy-two percent of respondents said they believed the Hamas decision to launch the cross-border rampage in southern Israel was "correct" given its outcome so far, while 22% said it was "incorrect". reuters.com

This supposedly pro-Palestine video also made an impression on me.

Palestinians generally support Hamas, not just ideologically, but physically.

That does NOT mean that they deserve genocide. But it also doesn't mean they're generally innocent victims.

It's time for a ceasefire. It's time to release the remaining hostages. And we should come down harshly on Israel if they attempt to put civilians into Gaza. But that doesn't mean Palestine has done nothing wrong.
