This one here looks pretty fully realized, but in general my advice is don't forget about scratch building components. Jewelry chain, zipties, plastic scraps, and all other sorts of bobbles can help finish out a kitbash.
Personally I use Super Clean, but there are tons of viable methods. Here's Goobertown Hobbies trying a bunch.
What I've learned from many eBay rescues is that sometimes you can't or don't need to strip back to the bare plastic. As long as the mini's surface texture looks reasonable, spray paint covers many sins.
I think the Firehawks look pretty cool in either version of their colors.
Thanks! That is so helpful! I wondered if they may have been Firehawks beforehand. I really like the colours but I'm not a huge fan of the hotrod flames haha!
Good point about what materials to use, I have some jewelry chain that I tied around a Khaos marines arm previously, but zip ties are such a good idea.
I will have to watch that video and figure out what paint stripping is available in Aus.
Oh too bad, I think flames are neat! You could do Howling Griffons if you don't mind the time needed to do a quartered scheme. Or just kind of experiment and make your own chapter.
I think I like them for orks or vehicles but not as much on armour but I can see the appeal. Quartered could be interesting!
