Has anyone thought of maybe getting Biden to open a dialogue with protestors?
Like, ideally he'd just stop supporting the genocide, but at least he could pretend to listen to them.
Invite them to even speak at the convention to show that while Biden himself might not agree, the party is open to compromise with the left to form a coalition to prevent trump?
I don't get paid millions to run political campaigns, but it seems like that solves both problems, and all it takes is giving people left of Biden a seat at the table and a little oxygen to speak.
It's what he keeps saying we need to do with conservatives. It just seems backwards to treat them that way and progressives this way when looking at how likely they are to vote Biden.
“Listening” to people while having zero intention to ever action their concerns is meaningless PR.
And frankly there is no compromise to supporting genocide. You can’t just have a little genocide as a treat.
If you put a conservative on the stage, the audience of democrats will dislike what they're saying, most likely, and Biden will still look good.
If you put a progressive on the stage, the audience of democrats might very well be disappointed in Biden, not the situation you want at your convention.
Is your advice actually good for the party and the country? Probably. Would it happen? Most likely not.
If you're wondering why Biden won't give an inch:

I disagree, those aren't bribes to make Biden have these views. He genuinely would support Israel no matter what including if they stopped campaign donations.
From a game theory perspective:
If you bribe someone, they may ask for more money, the higher up they get, the more they cost. Or someone else could offer more to change.
On a long timeline you want to instead spend that money elevating people who already have the required beliefs. Even if you stop paying them, they may get the legs to carry themselves and continue doing what you want for free.
You can't buy that type of loyalty, but you can use money to get that loyalty into power.
If you want to see what that would be like, watch this scene from the movie "Nixon" (1995).

And the protestors are just supposed to fall for that?
Probably not, but it would help him beat Trump.
Like, he's doing so little, that even obvious pandering and just admitting he ain't doing enough would be huge.
For a lot of people, it's less the specific issues Biden refuses to compromise on, it's that he's willing to bend over backwards and give conservatives whatever they want, but won't even acknowledge anyone on his left or under 60 years old.
He honestly doesn't have to do much to be good enough to get more votes.
I doubt that... Biden in up against more than just Trump. He's basically been painted into a realpolitik corner - and, to be fair to Biden, it isn't even really Biden's fault.
No he hasn't, literally all he needs to do is just give the appearance that he gives half a damn what the people whose votes he needs want from him.
It's that fucking basic, and Biden just won't do it.
Not even getting into how Biden's actions with the Southern border and Israel are 100% his fault. People were/are/will be begging him to not do that shit.
But he won't listen, even if it give trump another term.
Uh...
Democracy is kind of just a popularity contest. Direct democracy would literally be a popularity contest.
But in our current system, it's more like a couple popularity contests in a handful of states.
Democracy is not a popularity contest - if that's what you've got, the people organizing the popularity contest have already neutralized democracy a long time ago.
The concept of democracy is compatible with any consensus-based decision-making process that happens from below - once it's dictated from above... well, you get the picture.
Mate...
It's whoever gets the most votes (offer applies only in select states).
It 100% comes down to a popularity contest in a handful of states.
And Michigan is one of them. This weekend Biden was in LA raising money with George Clooney and trump was pandering to the masses in Michigan, who are giving him millions of dollars for it.
Like, that's the rub. A billionaire can give about a million to the BVF, and they can bundle by getting their friends to do the same. All for a running chain of favors or access.
But every person still only gets one vote.
And I think the DNC is doing the math wrong prioritizing the money over the votes and a little less money.
Because they still have to get those votes eventually
I don't disagree with anything you've typed here.
But if you call any of what you described democratic, I will say that your bar for what qualifies as democratic or not is so low you'd need a bathyscape to see it.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/democracy
See, this is why you don't get your politics from a dictionary.
If a was true, where is your universal healthcare?
I could ask a book's worth of, "If a was true, (insert blatantly obvious contradiction here)" questions that this worse-than-useless dictionary description doesn't provide answers to.
And that's just a... it just gets worse from there on in.
Let's rather try this - why do you think labor unions have been historically necessary? After all... if it wasn't for labor unions, you wouldn't even have the week-end - or anything resembling safety regulations. Labour unions are a democratic force (in theory - and sometimes in practice) acting on an anti-democratic power structure (ie, a for-profit, privately owned corporation - in this instance)
If you lived in a democratic society, such a force wouldn't be necessary, no?
