What Biden actually does in response:

[–] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 56 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait, I don't see anything listed there. Guys, what's there? Surely there must be something!

[–] Pringles@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You cannot see the wishful thinking bubble? Which client are you using? Any app with the disillusionment extension will do.

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You jest, but Deceptichum actually did try to include a "wishful thinking bubble" which you can see only if you view the comment's source.

[–] Gestrid@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wonder if they tried to do it using non-breaking spaces.

Looks like using   worked.

Take the moral high ground, which will lead to his demise.

Bonus edgy comic idea:

Panel 1: The scene from The Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan got the high ground, but instead, Obi-Wan says "It's over Anakin, I've got the moral high ground!".

Panel 2: Obi-Wan drops his lightsaber.

Panel 3: Anakin cuts off Obi-Wan's limbs in a single move.

Panel 4: The horribly mutilated body of Obi-Wan is shown in a torture machine.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

The difference between Obi-wan and the Democratic Party is that Obi-wan was willing to take difficult paths and challenge his enemies as they needed to be challenged.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 113 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Do we really think Biden (or any Democrat, really) is going to do anything different than continue to cede more ground to the Republicans as they always have?

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 43 points 1 year ago

Fiction doesn't have to be realistic. That's the point of fiction.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

If he had the power he would just call early elections to loose faster.

[–] Nobody@lemmy.world 65 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Order the DOJ to arrest and confiscate the assets of all billionaires on charges of treason. Send them to Guantanamo and give them a closed door “trial.”

Enemies of the state. All of them.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 51 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Every one of you guys is turning into crazed lunatics. This has been a long and stressful election season, and you're now calling for not only Biden to institute facism, but also to arrest citizens who haven't been convicted of any crime, to be taken to a fake predetermined trial off the books.

Man, I can't wait until election season is over.

checks calander

ITS ONLY JULY????

[–] Nobody@lemmy.world 39 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

The US and probably the entire world would improve for everyone in a very short time frame if American billionaires were rounded up and arrested. These people are criminals. They have captured the republic and turned it into their casino, where the taxpayer subsidizes their losses. They are making the planet unlivable.

If you think the status quo is okay, you are not paying attention.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago (5 children)

I'm not saying what they're doing is morally ok. I'm saying they aren't criminals. For that word implys that what they have done

  1. Was illegal

And

  1. They've been convicted of a crime.

Donald Trump is a 34X criminal. Thats factually accurate.

Jeff Bezos is not. Because he hasn't been convicted of anything.

You can't just use words against people you don't like and expect it to mean anything.

A better use of your vernacular would be:

"Billionaires are unempathetic, labor exploiting, psychopaths who are by far the leading cause of climate change, but will never personally feel the effects of their actions.

THAT would all be factually true. But also legal. So, again, they aren't criminals. They've rigged the system so they aren't breaking any laws by doing terrible things. That's by design.

[–] Bookmeat@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

You don't have to be convicted or even suspected of a crime to be a criminal.

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago

I'm with bookmeat. Anyone who has committed a crime is a criminal. It does not require being caught or convicted.

[–] tostiman@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

Wow, a rare sane political comment on Lemmy! Thanks!

if there's 100 billionaires (don't know the actual number) you don't think there's 10,000 millionaires right behind them that can't wait to become billionaires themselves that will step into that power vacuum?

I mean Republicans vote the way they do, even the most poorest, most powerless among them, since they all belive they're temporarily embarrassed millionaires so when they become rich they won't have to pay taxes either.

it's criminals all the way down. 4 legs good, 2 legs better

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Killing billionaires is not fascism and anyway being a billionaire necessitates serious immoral actions. You cannot be a billionaire and a good person.

Besides, the DOJ would never do that, it is literally built by billionaires to protect their interests.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

What crazed lunatics?

Yeah they are doing a hyperbole but it would be 100% legal and moral to make laws to restrict wealth and then once the law is there, seize billionaire wealth and leave them with 100 million dollars or something (so not even dragging them down to our level).

Responses like yours forget that people are frustrated and have already said the reasonable versions thousands of times.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Listen to this guy, folks. According to his username, he speaks from experience!

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

No. Close Guantanamo and cancel sanctions for Cuba.

[–] StinkySocialist@lemmy.ml 51 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Democrats are too spineless for this. They'll just wait patiently for the Republicans to take power and do this to them instead.

[–] YeetPics@mander.xyz 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Those evil Democrats are too spineless to drone strike their political opponents, sad weak fuckers.

Btw have I mentioned I am super cool and edgy and know more about the world than the people runnin' it?!

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Fascists don't have human rights, on account of literally not believing in them. It's one of the things that makes them fascists.

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This. There should be no freedoms for the enemy of the freedom.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same vein as the paradox of tolerance.

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yup, 100%. There should be no tolerance for the enemy of tolerance.

It is a basic self defense mechanism.

[–] lseif@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

love the energy, but everyone has human rights. thats the point.

[–] null@slrpnk.net 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This ignores the part where the SC didn't define "official acts".

Trump can do whatever he wants, but I guarantee if Biden does, those actions will be deemed " unofficial".

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 9 points 1 year ago

So do it all so fast that by the time they get their shit together to stop him the damage is done. He's old as fuck It's not like personal consequences should matter to him anyway.

I love when people can't think multiple steps ahead & see the pitfalls of the bad idea they're currently supporting.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Multiple steps ahead? How many steps does biden have before the next president bans political opposition?

[–] Tiltinyall@beehaw.org 11 points 1 year ago

Biden walks right into the archive with the original constitution, writes in indelible ink and I quote: "nuh-uh, totally written right here that Trump is a loser no take backs..."

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You forgot the genocide part

[–] deaf_fish@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

You want Biden to do genocide? Isn't culling the Supreme Court enough?

[–] Akuden@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Funny how as soon as Democrats think they have some unlimited magic power all they can come up with is killing their political rivals.

[–] trashgirlfriend@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago (6 children)

This meme has like 2 other examples in it though

[–] Bonskreeskreeskree@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Look through the posts on here and reddit since the ruling and see how many are calling for political violence. Idiots. All of them.

[–] trashgirlfriend@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Political violence is good when bad people die

There is a difference between good and bad things happening

[–] YeetPics@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No you don't get it, our political violence is superior and morally justifiable

[–] ramjambamalam@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

This post doesn't seem to glorify political violence to me, but rather, shows how horrible it would be. Less of a wet dream and more of a warning.
