From this post and talking to old heads on lots of different jobs, the world, both working and otherwise used to be a lot more fun.

Before the internet there were phonebooks for your city and/or region which listed household and business phone numbers among other info. This is where the term "yellow pages" came from which was the section for businesses categorized by type of business ("crime fighting" here) .
