I know !findacommunity@lemmy.ml exists, but I’ve blocked lemmy.ml…

Are there any alternatives?

Edit: !lemmy411@lemmy.ca exists, lol, I should have searched better.

Anyways I guess I’ll keep this post up if anyone needs in future.

Are you looking specifically for a community for communities? If not there's also Lemmy Explorer.

May I also plug https://fediverser.network? It is a crowdsourced database of communities, instances and subreddits to let people find the best alternatives for each subreddit.

Nice, didn't know about this one.

@Essence_of_Meh
Neither did I. It could become really useful for the whole #Fediverse.

The site above is indeed quite good

Sadly hasn't been updated since 6 days ago. I don't know why.

[-] Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Yeah, it can take a while before new communities show up. Not much can be done about it I'm afraid.

[-] crimeschneck@feddit.nl 5 points 3 months ago

It usually updates daily though. Check the burger menu at the top right. It shows you when the data was last updated. The README of the github page also says that "publish-pages" is failing, whatever that is.

I realize that but even those daily updates don't seem to catch everything. When I tried to bring some life to a community I was interested in it took a few weeks of activity before it showed up on the list. It's a great tool but it's not perfect.

!trendingcommunities@feddit.nl is another one

[-] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 17 points 3 months ago

That one is great, and I will also promote !newcommunities@lemmy.world - which additionally hosts a "weekly active communities promotion thread".

[-] ptz@dubvee.org 12 points 3 months ago

Was just about to recommend !lemmy411@lemmy.ca

You could ask for communities on !communitypromo@lemmy.ca

It's a bit of a combinations of !newcommunities@lemmy.world and find a !findacommunity@lemmy.ml

Try.. Unblocking it?

[-] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 months ago

I didn’t block lemmy.ml by accident

[-] palordrolap@kbin.run 8 points 3 months ago

Do you not know why people would want to block lemmy.ml?

[-] Oha@lemmy.ohaa.xyz 1 points 3 months ago

I do. I block communities instead of instances
