“When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “Donald Trump will always side against workers standing up for themselves, and he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected. Both Trump and Musk want working class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”

Huge respect for Shawn Fain and the UAW.

UAW is a hero workforce. Proud of those brothers/sisters/siblings.

This past month, I moved from Texas - a state that bans collective bargaining rights for public employees - to Oregon. Oregon has strong unions for educators, so I was prouder than a new dad to pay my dues for this year.

After almost 20 years teaching in Texas, where your teacher's organization dues are really only lawsuit insurance. Sure, they will send reps to school board meetings to fight for better wages, but they really have no power at all. You even whisper the word "strike", and the Texas Education Agency will cancel your certification permanently. So this is a very welcome change.

the people who extol austin's virtues blow my mind; have they even lived there?!!!

Many of the people who move to Austin nowadays are Bay Area tech workers that only care about paying lower taxes

Add their IQs together and the result is closer to 50 than 100. Add their maturity levels together and the result wouldn't be able to get a learners permit in most states.

The fact that they have so much is testament to the inherent failure of capitalism.
