Why would I want to extend my life?

[–] MaskingTape@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

Yeah I was like no thanks

[–] BarrelAgedBoredom@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

No oxy, booze or smokes? Fuck that. Imma die at 48

[–] bluGill@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

My todo list will take me 3000 years. 20 years is a drip in the bucket.

To see the ending?

Humanity has been tripping over itself since we split the atom to destroy humanity. Whether from climate change, AI, CRISPR designed viruses, etc, we're doomed by our own hand in the next 50ish years. All of 200k of human history and 10k of recorded human history has led us to this. We appear to be the fortunate ones that get to witness HOMO SAPIEN: The Epic, Catastrophic, Embarrassing Conclusion. This is damn exciting stuff.

You're really going to turn off Independence Day just before they blow up all the iconic buildings?!

Is this news? I thought all these points were pretty well established!

[–] Oneobi@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

"Have perfect existence and you should live long time"

Thanks?

[–] Llcooljessie@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

But if it's imperfect, at least it's not as long.

[–] kaitco@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

But cigarettes and binge drinking help manage stress!

[–] FranklinsBeard@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There's definitely a sweet spot 🤤

[–] bluGill@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Live a low stress life in the first place. Eventually you discover that there are plenty of jobs, so the worst they can do is fire you, and find a new one. Unless you are in a war zone, sorry I can't help the few of you in that situation, but most of us are not, and so realistically most stressful situations people find them in are not stressful. And in turn because they are not stressful you are a better worker since you know the pressure isn't really anyway.

They only mentioned opioids, so there are a ton of other options which can add special effects to your daily life ;)

Snorts a fat line of coke

Boy I’m glad I’m doing 8/8 things here. 🫨

Judging by the way things are going I think I’ll pass on those 24 extra years.

[–] DaveNa@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

3/8, who wants to help me get to 0

[–] Zozano@aussie.zone 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Which ones are you missing?

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Cigarettes, binge drinking, and opium addiction. I figure I can start smoking opium cigarettes and hit two-in-one.

[–] Zozano@aussie.zone 2 points 2 years ago

You can also drink opium, so if you don't like the smokes, you can get fancy.

The article only says avoid cigarettes. So maybe you can simply drink your opiumargarita in the smoking area of a pub and hit all three at once!

6/8 ain't bad

[–] lildictator@feddit.nl 0 points 2 years ago

Eat well

That is an euphemism for "don't eat anything yummy".

It may or may not extend your life, but it will make it feel unbearably long.
