Hey, Babylon 4 lasted 1000 years. Give credit where it's due.
Well, if you do the math, it lasted closer to -1000 years...
Did it though? Did they revisit it post jump?
It's been a while. I may be misremembering it.
But either way, Babylon 4 deserves some respect.
I'm only one season in, but they address this, right? basically saying humans are stubborn, and that they thought the Babylon project was the last hope for the human race so they really fought to make it happen.
Yeah some blew up due to sabotage and some...well since you're on the first season I won't spoil it for ya!
Suffice to say #5 is the sturdiest swamp station of them all thanks to the foundation the other 4 laid down :>
They address it in the first movie I think. Sinclair is talking with someone (maybe Delen) and the chat goes
Person: why Babylon 5?
Sinclair: Babylon 1-3 were sabotaged during construction, Babylon 4 went missing 24 hours after going online.
I think the meme is not saying why are there five, it's saying why did they keep doing the same thing when it failed every time!
“So I built a fourth one… that burnt down, got lost in time, then sank into the swamp!”
Babylon5
It was the dawn of the third age of mankind. Ten years after the Earth Minbari war. The Babylon project was dream giving form. It's goal to prevent another war by creating a place where humans and aliens could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call. Home away from home for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanders. Humans and aliens wrap in two million five hundred thousand tons of spinning metal, all alone in the night. It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last best hope for peace. This is the story of last of the Babylon stations. The year is 2258. The name of the place is Babylon 5.
