How is India not on that list?

Oh, it gets its data from Google Trends.

Most Indians are Vegetarian not Vegan.

Google trends for people searching for vegan related things doesn't mean those people are vegan.

Also reads like it was ai generated.

Very weird to claim Palestinians are vegan just because they're victims. They're very much not, barely half of Palestinian youth in 2017 even knew what veganism was when polled https://faunalytics.org/first-ever-study-veganism-and-animal-welfare-in-palestine/

OP has just replaced "Israel" with Palestine, they are using that entire area.

[-] spacesatan@lemm.ee 2 points 23 hours ago

Yeah that's why its weird. Stripping israel of their veganism rate and giving it to Palestine like it's an award they don't deserve. It's irrelevant to the genocide and misleading when it's clearly the israeli nation that has the high veganism rate even if you don't recognize the legitimacy of their government.

How is it irrelevant? I do not recognise "Israel"'s right to exist. I do not even recognise them as a nation. That is the general stance of this entire instance as well. They are Occupied Palestinian territory, that's all. It is not about "giving Israel's veganism rate to Palestine" it is about recognising the territory as being Palestinian.

I don't recognize them as a legitimate country but they're undeniably a nation. If you ask the vegans there almost none of them would self identify as Palestinian.

undeniably a nation

A nation is defined by four characteristics:

  1. Population - A settled population
  2. Territory - A defined territory
  3. Government - A government
  4. Ability to relate to other states - The ability to conduct relations with other states on a sovereign basis

Israel does not have a defined territory. Their borders have never been officially established. Using guidelines used by the UN they are not a nation.

The Lemmy place to discuss veganism.

Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.
