Still in beta. Wouldn't recommend. (I use it but its a pain)

Why is it a pain? I've used it for some time and it just does the job.

Good option if you want to make use of Piped as a proxy though

Huh, what's the issue with it ? (Other then load times)

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 year ago

Its unstable and only works half the the time.

What do you mean load times? If its slow switch to a instance in your area

That's weird, I have never experienced any crash/problems with the app.

What i was saying with load times is that sometimes instance gets ratelimited by YT but with newpipe you are not using proxy, so probably not going to get rate limited that fast.

Good app.

What's weird and frustrating with some FOSS apps like NewPIpe is that they get hung up on adding some very useful and vital features that have massively been requested for years. While adding features that are only used by a minority of users.

For instance there have been discussions on the projects github issue tracker dating back many years about the addition of search filter by date of upload. Yet this feature is yet to land in the App. For all its features this is my biggest let down with the app.

I've been using NewPipe exclusively for about 4 years now and I'm very, very happy with it. I take background audio playback, downloading, adblocking, sponsorblocking et.c. for granted now and often forget how crippled the vanilla YouTube experience is.

Interesting, how would I add those? Especially https://media.ccc.de/ ?

All of them are already included ootb, and „subscriptions“ of either service should all come together in a single feed
