...because that feckless, dickless chump Merrick Fucking Garland won't do shit because he's as bought and paid for as the rest of them. Trying to not appear partisan by... being deeply partisan in letting go of Republican crimes?

Merrick Garland fades backward into the shrubbery

I don't understand, why is this a lawsuit instead of an arrest warrant?

[-] ryper@lemmy.ca 43 points 2 weeks ago

Because it's a federal crime and the feds aren't doing anything about it.

Penn also has laws against bribing voters.

Yes, but you see, Elon is rich so it doesn't matter.

[-] ryper@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago

The article says they're treating this as an illegal lottery; maybe the state's voter bribery laws don't cover this particular scheme and the lawsuit is plan B.

[-] Sabata11792@ani.social 11 points 2 weeks ago

He's incredibly rich.

Rich, white, male Republican. Take your pick

[-] Mereo@lemmy.ca 45 points 2 weeks ago

This practice is really a banana republic practice. It's like handing out cash in party flyers in corrupted banana republics.

Okay, we've got to quit only "suing" people who commit FELONIES and pretending that's good enough!!

[-] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Cool.

But Elon is rich so we all know the law doesn't apply to him. I am only gonna start smiling when he actually faces consequences.

Good for Philly.

[-] osaerisxero@kbin.melroy.org 8 points 2 weeks ago

A civil suit instead of a warrant.

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

If it's illegal for him to offer the payment then it's illegal for them to accept the payment according to the federal statute. So, if I was a winner I wouldn't count on being a millionaire forever.
