That's the deal.

Literally.

[-] alekwithak@lemmy.world 51 points 3 days ago

And yet I'll still be called a conspiracy theorist for mentioning it.

[-] Rottcodd@lemmy.world 35 points 3 days ago

We're in a timeline now in which truth is entirely irrelevant.

Trump supporters are necessarily one of two things - deluded or dishonest. Either they've been manipulated into not seeing the plain fact that he's a corrupt and self-serving autocrat and an existential threat to the US, or they know exactly what he is and just don't admit it publicly.

In either case, truth and reality count for nothing.

[-] MrVilliam@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

And you're just being alarmist for suggesting that he'll do the things he's literally promised that he will do. He's obviously joking when he's talking about tariffs and deportations and using the military against "the enemy from within" and "finishing the job" in Palestine. Because, you see, Kamala laughed too much or something.

Well, prior to the election, mentioning Project 2025, even when it was published, and in writing, was having people get called conspiracy theorists, too, so....

[-] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I believe it’s The Art of the Deal.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 37 points 3 days ago

Newsweek has contacted Trump's team for comment.

They should cut out the middle men and just ask the Kremlin directly.

[-] just_another_person@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago

So even the Kremlin is admitting the election was rigged in some way by their people. Fucking great.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Huh, you don't say.

The qons, the tankies, the Enlightened Centrists (TM) have all been telling me that Russian collusion was a "hoax".

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Yup, he owes all the little nazis dinner at the white house, and you're paying for it. That's the bad news. The good news is it's McDonald's and there's a good chance of ecoli.

[-] Joeffect@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Or listeria...

[-] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 10 points 3 days ago

Well yes but what are they going to do about it now? It's not like he needs to be put in power again, and literally any scandal will fall off him like water on a duck

[-] minnow@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

I was thinking about this. How funny would it be if Trump just... Did nothing? Refused to sign legislation, made zero executive orders, just golfed for four years straight? It's not like he needs to keep people happy so they'll re elect him, he's no longer eligible to run.

The problem is that winning only postponed his problems for four years, and he certainly is already worried about when that time comes. He'll be looking for a solution, and for that he'll need the favor of people in power. So it's amusing to think he might just chill, but I really doubt he will :(

[-] normalexit@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

My conspiracy theory is that Trump will be a useful idiot until he's not, in which case he will be replaced one way or another by JD Vance.

[-] Joeffect@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I keep saying this also... Vance doesn't talk like he's just some VP dude trying to fix some random cause... He is planning on saying trump is unfit the first chance he gets... I believe a lot of them are actually tired of trump but he's so good for them this is their chance...

[-] cmbabul@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I’d call it more a deep seated fear for me than theory. Vance is the riches actual play

[-] Joeffect@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

If he lives that long ... He's out of shape, he has had major health issues recently... He doesn't eat very healthy... And he's going to be the oldest president by the end of his term beating out Biden who if I'm not mistaken was too old...

[-] minnow@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I thought of that too, but I don't think Trump's ego allows him to consider that he might die some day.

[-] MrVilliam@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I'm not sure that he's even mentally capable of the abstraction necessary to consider such a thing. If he did a freaky Friday body swap with a somehow horny 7 year old boy, I'm not sure we'd ever know the difference. Dude likes trucks and cops and hamberders, and has absolutely zero media literacy and introspection skills.

[-] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago

That's kind of accurate and it's weird that I've never thought about that before

If there’s anything American society has taught me over the years, it’s that good things happen to rich people - whether they’re good or bad is irrelevant.

[-] cowfodder@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

If he refused to do the job I'm sure the 25th would be invoked immediately.

[-] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago

The PACs alone spent like a billon or whatever, that def wasn't free for neither candidate.
