Jack Smith's resignation plans are another confirmation of the president-elect’s abiding ability to escape legal and political accountability.

Maybe don't wait till the final year of the presidency to start the process.

Buck stops with the President.

[-] JeffKerman1999@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 days ago

He couldn't fire the guy and put someone less MAGA

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 23 points 2 days ago

He could, but he should have just never appointed him in the first place. He was nominated for the SC because he was inoffensive to Republicans. It's not a grand political maneuver to put him in when your party controls the confirmation process and there are important Republicans that need to be brought to justice.

Biden’s his boss. How would your boss respond to you not doing your job?

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

That's not a very good argument where I work. You can get away with a hell of a lot of not-doing-shit here. lol

Land of the free, home of the brave.

Meanwhile someone had a bag of weed and spends years in a cave.

Dun dun

Common misconception. It’s land of the fee.

[-] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

And the home of the beaver!🇨🇦🇨🇦

The kicker is all the randos from Jan. 6th that were able to be found and convicted before Trump even had any prosecutions start.

[-] Mango@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

The only brave one shot at him.

Seriously. If anyone has that "what would you do with a time machine" conversation and the people you're with say something about stopping Hitler, now we can all say "shut up, no you wouldn't. You didn't even try to stop him in our time."

Constitutionally ineligible to hold office. Convicted felon, rapist, and insurrectionist. Known for tanking the economy with his trade wars. He presided over and directly caused the avoidable, unnecessary deaths of millions of Americans. He violated process and law to to make illegitimate SCOTUS appointments of unfit individuals. He directly undermined and invalidated multiple Constitutionally guaranteed rights… written in black and white… but which, for all intents and purposes, no longer exist. And not only was he unconstitutionally put on ballots, but won the election, too.

And nobody is doing anything about it. The rule of law and our very Constitution are worthless now. Democracy in America is dead. Government by the people, for the people, has perished in America.

God save us.

Haha, the Constitution that enshrined slavery and didn't even extend voting rights to other white people if they didn't own land, was always useless. Liberals are just waking up to this now because Trump is an asshole haha.

[-] Sanctus@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

For now, theres still a chance for him to share the same ending as any of his heroes. Maybe he can go out like the other man with a gang of blackshirted goons on a leash.

[-] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

If we look at the actuarial tables for known rapists and convicted felons who are elected to be the leader of the most powerful nation to ever exist, he's going to die of advanced old age on a throne of gold while underage concubines tickle his flaccid genitals. There is no justice.

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I bet every shit he’s taken for the last forty years has been unpleasant at least

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 16 points 2 days ago

If only he could do the same thing as his idol. The greatest thing Hitler did was kill Hitler. I wish Trump would follow.

[-] Ledivin@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

I don't think Trump can kill Hitler

[-] Alenalda@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It's hyperbolic to compare trump to Hitler at this point, but it could easily get to a point where the common usage comparing something to Hitler changes to trump. In that event you could say he killed Hitler.

[-] JeffKerman1999@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 days ago

But Hitler didn't do it on a whim. He had a decade of power, inflicted horrific pain on millions of people, caused a world war.... He killed himself only once the war was lost and he didn't want to face consequences.

Trump will not have the same trajectory because the US army is the most funded in the world.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

And there's no feasible future where he faces consequences of any sort.

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Hitler thought his army was the most advanced army in the world as well.

They lost after one war.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 1 points 1 day ago

A man can dream though... A man can dream... :/

[-] djsoren19@yiffit.net 4 points 2 days ago

Idk, I think I'd prefer if Trump followed Mussolini's example instead.

[-] Rooskie91@discuss.online 14 points 2 days ago

He got away with everything so far.

[-] arin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Who is doing anything about it?

[-] dodgy_bagel@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

How old do you expect this greese bag of shit will get?

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

The Dems were never going to set a precedent of holding a politician accountable for their crimes. They are committing their own.
