No force is stronger than the autistic urge to correct something that is wrong in the special area of interest.

When you literally add "if you commit real life treason, we will ban you from our videogame forums" and it still doesn't work.

[-] ICastFist@programming.dev 14 points 3 days ago

I wonder if War Thunder forums will be one of the things Russia will keep allowing connections to (they're planning to get off the wider 'net), since it's such a treasure trove for classified info on other countries' arsenals.

[-] doktormerlin@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago

Simply put: no. It doesn't make any sense.

Russia as a whole will not be cut from the internet. North Korea isn't cut from the internet. The public is. And the public does not need this information

[-] Bronzebeard@lemm.ee 15 points 3 days ago

Disconnecting the country from it doesn't mean their government won't have access...

If I had a nickel every time someone posted classified documents in the WarThunder forums I would have ~~2~~ ~~3~~ Enough.

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 45 points 4 days ago

It's practically a weekly occurrence at this point.

[-] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 25 points 4 days ago

Surely we can do better. Daily?

Even a friend of mine has contributed to these occurrences, he leaked literally all the specs of a US fighter jet because someone got a minor detail wrong.

Although, he is also autistic and really interested in weaponry so it's not surprising lol.

Disagreeing with the moderators is also against the rules.

At least they admit it.

[-] Thorry84@feddit.nl 92 points 5 days ago

They didn't say disagreeing with moderators, they said disagreeing with moderation.

I read that as: You can disagree with how a mod applies the rules and challenge that. You can't disagree with the rules themselves, the rules are the rules, take it or leave it.

And personally I think complying with NATO export restrictions seems like a good rule.

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 37 points 4 days ago

But I want to win an Internet argument!

All of this has happened before, and it will happen again.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago

What's next in the rotation? Helicopters?

[-] topherclay@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago
[-] untorquer@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

Naval is on the horizon.

Planes will go around again.

[-] topherclay@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Firearms will get a shot after that.

[-] ICastFist@programming.dev 6 points 3 days ago

Missile launchers would be a blast

When are we getting them alien tech?

Somebody please leak them.

[-] JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl 4 points 3 days ago

I don't think they let the fresh-out-of-ROTC war thunder-obsessed lieutenants have access to Area 51 lol

[-] Valthorn@feddit.nu 54 points 5 days ago

Someone comes along with a "You primitive earthlings! The ØXÇ-57 Plasma Cannon has a much faster cool down. [Link to schematics]"

[-] glitchdx@lemmy.world 54 points 4 days ago

probably the most compelling evidence that aliens have not visited Earth, if they did then technical documentation would have been leaked on warthunder forums.

Opsec? What's that?

I always wonder if those leaks lead to wikipedia improvements on the given topics somewhere down the line

[-] Maggoty@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Wiki requires citation. It's pretty easy for a government to have someone go in there and revert it for being uncited.

At what point is information considered public, once it is public or once its declassified?

[-] Maggoty@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

According to the government, once it's declassified.

A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.
