Suspended sentence, community service and £600.

Sounds worth it.

God, Nigel Farage is such a cunt. He's only bloody 60 as well, so we might have to deal with this freak for another 20+ years.

Bowen deserves a medal.

Following her sentencing, Farage posted on social media: "We now live in a country where you can assault a Member of Parliament and not go to prison." - Yes, Mr. Farage, and the citizens agree that this is a good thing.

[-] Buckshot@programming.dev 43 points 1 day ago

It's not even true. He wasn't an MP at the time it happened.

Nigel Farage lying?!? Where's my 'shocked pikachu', when I need it?

I've only got this older image format for you:

That’s so fucking dumb. If I got hit with a shake the police would say, "So?." Then they’d go harrass black people on the south side of town.

[-] drolex@sopuli.xyz 12 points 1 day ago

I mean, in both case they're trying to advance the racist agenda, so thumbs up for consistency at least.

I'm just so tired of this lead poisoned species.

She should have been given a medal.

Homie, be glad you don't live in a country where you can get assassinated on the sidewalk. Sure, the shooter will likely get killed or go to prison, but that's not going to help you much.

Honestly, he got "milkshaked", which washes off. She got a criminal record, which does not. He should be singing the court's praises for that lopsided judgement in his favor.

Tell Spencer Perceval that.

[-] ReCursing 32 points 1 day ago

She should be applauded not punished

[-] Nanook@lemm.ee 15 points 1 day ago

She is! 👏👏👏👏👏

Thomas Bowen has been given a 13-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, must pay the MP £150 compensation, complete 120 hours of unpaid work and pay £450 in court costs.

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 13 points 1 day ago

She got a suspended sentence but the country's gratitude.

[-] futatorius@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

If I ever meet her, I'll happily buy her a pint. Or a milkshake, if she prefers.

[-] Professorozone@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Seemed like a pretty harsh penalty to me for a friggin' jacket stain. Although I guess it was more about the darker message.

[-] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 day ago

Three weeks of unpaid labour is a bit expensive, but might be well worth it. Legend.

[-] MudMan@fedia.io 6 points 1 day ago

I mean, I would.

Like, if they made him sit there and I could maybe feint a couple times first, watch him flinch? Yeah, worth it.

Lactose the intolerant!

[-] Zip2@feddit.uk 10 points 1 day ago

I still think it’s a shame that she didn’t have time to freeze it first.

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago

Obviously Farage - with his dreams of drinking a nut-brown ale in a country pub with a “No dogs or Irish” sign on the door while aristos lead a cavalry charge against protesting mill workers - is little more than a useful-idiot tool of Putin and Trump, so a simple milkshaking seems like pretty commensurate punishment that he should be happy with.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
