She died of a broken script . . .

I mean this was the end of the movie anyway...

I heard a head canon about this recently that the reason Padme dies is because Palpatine used the force connection between her and Anakin to siphon her life away in order to save him. Since we know that the myth of Plagueis was real (Sidious was his apprentice and they made Anakin together) it would also be the payoff for that concept. And the only proof of this is the order of shots (Padme dies as soon as Vader's helmet locks in place, plus something else I can't recall), something that Lucas loved to do.

Oh god... Rey and Kylo Ren are supposed to be the reincarnation of Anakin and Padme aren't they.

You're giving Disney way to much credit

Yeah there was no thought involved. Changing directors for every movie sort of proves that too. The franchise was running in inertia alone by that last movie. What a pile of shit.

I realize that Lucas ultimately didn't want to have Anakin stab his very pregnant wife so she couldn't have been seriously injured in the final confrontation and have a plausible death, but honestly, why not just have her give birth without medical aid? Obi-Wan is never shown to have Force Healing, there's no reason to assume he could have stopped her from hemorrhaging or whatever.

They say she lost the will to live and that should have meant she could be mind tricked. But I believe her strong will to die would have prevented it.

Ah, the "they only work on the weak-minded" plot device?

Can we get a gif where she blinks every ten seconds?

It already is a gif, you must have looked away

Padme's face reminded me of Lucas CGI-ing dead actors' faces onto doubles.

Random source

Mark Hamill isn't dead and Lucas didn't do any of that. You're thinking of Lucasfilm and the two other actors mentioned in your source.

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.
