In season 2, every time I see Burt, my opinion changes. Sus how he watches Irving from his car. Then it is downplayed, he is sarcastic about Irving showing up at his door. Back to sus as he mentions he knows where Irving lives. I really thought outie-burt is just awkward. But this episode was...well...sus through and through.

Right now it definitely seems like he invited Irv over for a ham and expensive wine for the sole purpose of allowing Mr. Drummond free access to Irv's apartment.

I didn’t even consider this.

Burt is acting extremely sus, I don’t think the year thing was a slip of the tongue

Also Dylan's wife with the two Dylan.

It's a fun parallel to watch.

I can honestly say I have no idea where the hell this is all going, but I sure do enjoy trying to figure it out!

That scene with Milchick repeating himself in the mirror was super disturbing to me.

Felt really obsessive. He wants to impress Lumon so hard, I can't help but feel he's going to make a 180 if they keep failing to appreciate him. Reforms? Who cares, you're using paperclips wrong. Unhinged

[–] gashead76@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

He's obviously fighting himself in attempt to be what Lumon wants and I hope he ends up flipping. I mean just the look on his face when he received the paintings that show "him in Lumon history" showed that he had some serious issues with how he is being treated.

He is changing himself to speak more plainly as per his job review.

Yup, I do the same thing anytime I need to adjust my behavior...

[–] SamboT@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

You are saying its more than that and he is having an existential crisis due to the sacrifice of his identity for kier?

Interesting that Milkshake said 7 years, Burt says 10 years, and Fields says 20 years

Where is Cobel? We've gotten teases of so many stories but she just "left". I keep expecting her to show up and dump a bunch of information, I thought she was going to be at Mark's door instead of the sister.

I’ve been wondering this too. Where did she go after Helena creeped her out?

Is it bad that when I saw Berts husband my first thought was "please no tomatos, please no tomatos"

[–] Peacecraft@lemm.ee 4 points 3 weeks ago

I was watching the episode with my fiancee; she was trying to figure out who he was, because "he looks familiar", I just told her to imagine him eating cherry tomatoes and she figured it out immediately lol.

What I didn't get was what the Lumon guy with the "Frolic" tattoo on his hand was looking at. It's at around 36:30. Was it at Irving's place? Info about severed people, apparently.

[–] smorks@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I believe it was Mr. Drummond who broke into Irv's place and he found his notes & lists of severed people.

[–] Bademantel@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah, thanks for the info. That's an interesting development. I really liked this episode.

i think some people are theorizing that Mr Drummond & Burt are in cahoots, especially when fields mentions Burt has been with lumon for 20 years or whatever.

and yep, this season has been fantastic so far.

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Burt being with Lumon for 20 years might also be why he knows he's going to hell. He might have done some absolutely vile things before the Severance procedure became public knowledge.

[–] ericdavidmorris@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

I leapt to that same conclusion the moment I saw Drummond go to Irving’s place. I’m sure they are watching Irving closely, but the timing of him being there the moment Irving goes to Burt’s is sus

oof mark hitting his head was brutal

[–] SamboT@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah slamming your head better be the some accidental catalyst for perfect reintegration or something because that was disturbing to watch.

Finally caught up...

Ok, John Noble whistles in some episode(s) of Fringe, so that makes me think the whistling person whose face we don't see is Fields.

Burt having been with Lumon for 20 years and being like Attila the Hun makes me think he had to do with Lumon's early testing of severance.

Why TF would anyone invite the person who was screaming at the door over for dinner? I think Burt invited Irving to get him out of his apartment so Drummond could sneak in and snoop.

Is it possible that Irving is actually Burt's old Lumon partner?

Helena being obsessed with Mark is very... Creepy. At first I thought she was just tailing him for info, but it looks like she's stalking him just because they were intimate and he doesn't even know about it

I don't trust Reghabi, she may have hidden goals of her own.

Intensifying music scenes were great as always.

It would be funny if Mark got amnesia now.

I don't trust Reghabi, she may have hidden goals of her own.

Either hidden goals, or at the very least she doesn't care if Mark dies.
